Image: Marco Glaviano\n<p class=\"lead\">Despite rumours of a them planning a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/blogs\/celebrity-weddings\/janet-jackson-engaged-to-qatari-billionaire\/\">lavish, multi-million dollar wedding<\/a>, Janet Jackson and her billionaire Qatari businessman boyfriend Wissam Al Mana wed in a small, &#8220;quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony&#8221; late last year.<\/p>\n<p>Yep. Talk about being able to keep a secret!<\/p>\n<p>The couple only this week announced their nuptials. They did so in a statement to Entertainment Tonight, saying&#8221; The rumours regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true. Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favourite children&#8217;s charities. We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy. With love, Wissam and Janet.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Janet, 46, has been dating Wissam, 37, since mid 2010 and, she says, their nine-year age difference means nothing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My mother always raised us to believe that age was just a number,&#8221; says Janet, the late Michael Jackson&#8217;s baby sister.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All of us &#8211; my sisters, my brothers &#8211; we&#8217;ll just tell you our ages because it&#8217;s all about where you are mentally and how you feel about yourself. It doesn&#8217;t matter.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This is Janet&#8217;s third marriage.
