Stunning venue adds French chic to Kim and Joe’s vintage wedding

Wedding: 02/05/2015

It took a number of chance meetings before Kim Renton and Joe Tyminski realised they were meant to be together.

After they began dating, the Victorian pair, from Aspendale, discovered they shared the same love of health, fitness and personal development.

“We love each other’s unique sense of humour, hanging out with our ragdoll cat, Buttons, and our ability to pick the other one up if one of us is feeling down,” Kim, 32, says.

Joe, 33, proposed on a pre-planned beach walk one cold and overcast day. “I’d like to tell you it was a proposal like you see in the movies, but it wasn’t quite as smooth as that,” laughs Kim. “First of all, Joe had to coerce me to go on the walk… I remember saying that I’d prefer to make some banana bread!”

Five kilometers later, with wind-burn and shell-graze, Joe pulled out a diamond. “Of course I said ‘yes,'” says Kim, “but then I quickly responded, ‘You can’t do it now, I’m wearing a hoodie and I still have sleep in my eyes!'”

The project assistant and sales executive soon got to planning their vintage wedding. The Bellarine Peninsula’s Campbell Point House was their venue of choice, with the French chateau-style mansion and stately grounds providing the perfect elegant backdrop to their ceremony and reception.

The couple walked down the aisle on May 2, 2015, in front of 54 family and friends. “We really couldn’t have hoped for a more special wedding day,” Kim says.

“We both felt incredibly blessed… from the overwhelming love and support we felt from our friends and family, the perfect weather that allowed our beautiful outdoor ceremony, the touching words of our celebrant [Andrew Redman] and heartfelt speeches.”
