How We Met:
We first met around 14 years ago, very briefly, through his younger brother who I met when I was holidaying in NSW. All these years later, and thanks to Facebook, we got in contact again and hit it off so well that within a few months he moved interstate to be with me!
It was perfect and very romantic. We were fishing down by the lake, in NSW, just the two of us in a very secluded spot I was on the jetty and he went down onto the bank to try for a better spot. Minutes later he announces "Come check it out, Ive caught a fish!" I run over to him reeling in a small box, he gets down on one knee and pops the question!
I found the perfect dress at Tuscany Bridal an A-line gown with a semi-sweetheart neckline. It was ivory satin with plenty of gorgeous floral-shaped beading. I added lace sleeves. It was the most stunning dress and I fell in love with it as soon as I put it on.
I wore a silver tiara in my hair in place of a veil and I had my hair up. I wore small pearl ear-rings and a sparkly silver bracelet for some extra bling!
The boys wore charcoal grey pin-striped suits and waistcoats from Spurling with ivory shirts and champagne coloured silk ties (matching my bridesmaid´s dresses). The groom wore an ivory silk tie and our little ring bearer also wore a matching suit and tie.
The girls wore shimmery champagne coloured, full length flowy gowns from Brides Selection. Our flower girl wore a simple elegant ivory dress with shoe-string straps.
We went for a romantic theme (soft colours, flowers and candles) with a touch of country charm. The colour palette was ivory, cream and champagne and dusty pink. The tables were decorated with cream tea light candles in glass holders and mini lighthouse candles (to incorporate Byron Bay in the reception). We had the most beautiful backdrops with the luscious green garden for our ceremony and reception and photos taken on the beach at Wategos, Byron Bay.
We had ivory roses, cream lisianthus and soft pink peonie roses. The bridesmaid wore corsages and the flower girl had a basket of rose petals in pastel shades.
Ceremony Reception Decor
We got married in a huge garden and had Bali flags up at the entrance of the ceremony marquee and bamboo citronella candles lit up around the reception marquee for the evening. We didn´t need too many decorations as the garden was absolutely stunning!
We had an enormous white 16-seater hummer stretch limousine and our going away car was the "bommodore" (the family old Holden Commodore), decorated with shaving cream, streamers, balloons and the works.
We had little travel candles for each couple, personalised with our names and wedding date for each couple and single person.
Our cake was a two tiered chocolate mud cake with chocolate ganache icing from Greg´s Cakes. We had personalised Minikin cake toppers of ourselves, for a bit of fun.
We had a DJ during the ceremony and the reception. During pre-dinner drinks he kept our guests entertained while the bridal party were away getting photos taken on the beach. We had a fabulous assortment of music to suit all ages.
We spent 5 days in Langkawi and 5 days in Kuala Lumpur.
When the bridal party all made a wish and we released beautiful monarch butterflies.
Leave plenty of time to plan (12 months is good) and just do ONE THING AT A TIME. Enjoy the planning and time you spend with your friends and family, have plenty of fun and DON´T STRESS!
