Rhian Mold and Ben Harris were just teenagers when they first met and without a licence to drive, romance got tricky.
“I am from Gawler and Ben is from Glenelg and, as we didn’t have licences then, we didn’t see each other, we just spoke on MSN for a very long time,” Rhian, 23, explains. But despite this obstacle they made it work and now Rhian and Ben, 24, happily call Adelaide city home.
Five years after their first ‘real’ date – at the Adelaide Zoo – Ben proposed on a romantic surprise trip to Sydney. “I was very excited as I had never been to Sydney before,” recalls animal lover Rhian. “Ben had organised to go to Taronga Zoo. Heading back to the ferry, he saw this little path down to a beach that had no one there. Just us and the Sydney Opera House and the bridge in the background. He got down on one knee and asked “Will you marry me?”
The customer service representative and builder then began planning their gorgeous golf club wedding.
The couple married on October 3, 2015 in front of 110 guests at Gawler Uniting Church, where Rhian’s parents had wed 33 years before. “Ever since I can remember I have wanted my wedding there as well,” Rhian says.
The reception was held at Glenelg Golf Club, which was decked out in fairy lights and cream and pink blooms for the celebrations.
“Our wedding day was everything and more that I had ever dreamed of,” smiles Rhian. “I had the puffy dress and the sparkly bridesmaids. Amazing lush flowers that where brilliant. Everything was just the way we wanted it. The day went so quickly, it’s all a big beautiful blur.

The bride looked gorgeous in a strapless full-skirt gown and Rhian chose sparkling gowns for her bridesmaids’ dresses. “When I was growing up I hated sparkles but when I saw the dresses I just fell in love,” she comments.
“Ben is such a genuine person and makes me laugh every single day,” Rhian says of her husband.
“Rhian is a loving, kind person that is always happy! She always has a smile on her face and is the best thing to happen to me,” Ben says of his beautiful bride.
In choosing his wedding suit, Ben went for a timeless look with bow tie and braces.
