Except for the bride’s dress, which was bought by her parents as a gift, Charine and Jay saved and paid for the wedding themselves.
“Our wedding and its preparations was a combination of family and friends’ bonding, laughter, hard work and DIY in a lot of aspects. As we didn’t have much of a budget, we sourced things while they were on sale or half price. We got the whole family involved to build and set things up – Charine’s dad even built our arch way and wishing well,” explains the groom.
“We also went practical by buying things that would look amazing and that we could also use to decorate our house after the wedding. We had lanterns, fairy lights and hanging glass balls, which did not go to waste as we are using them now in our house.”
Charine and Jay, aged 27 and 29, tied the knot with a romantic wedding ceremony at Caversham House before heading to Metro Hotel Perth for their evening reception. The entire family pitched in to help set up the ceremony and reception, making it a truly unforgettable occasion for all.
“It was a wedding which would never have been a success without the collective efforts, support and presence of very close friends and families.”

The ceremony, led by celebrant Jeff Munn, symbolised the coming together of two vastly different cultural backgrounds: Filipino and South African/English.
Caversham House was the perfect Fairy Tale setting for the romantic ceremony.
