When Elena Ristovska and Chris Mace got married on December 7, 2014, it was beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Their impeccably-styled wedding held at The Tea Room in Sydney’s Queen Victoria Building had one additional statement piece to be forever treasured in their wedding photos – a giant, twinkling Christmas tree!
Dressed traditional red, and reaching the lofty heights of the QVB’s stained-glass dome, the tree became an enchanting backdrop to some festive photos by Inlighten Photography. “I’ve always wanted a December wedding,” says Elena, 31. “As a little girl, walking through the QVB at Christmastime always took my breath away.”
She adds, “It’s everything I envisage Christmas to be – warm, graceful, bright and exciting. I couldn’t have imagined a more beautiful setting for my wedding day!”
Elena, who works in marketing and events, had already planned the most gorgeous wedding for her and Chris, a Digital Manager. Dressed in a Steven Khalil gown, Elena says she dreamt of an almost regal design, inspired by the late Lady Diana. “Her wedding dress still takes my breath away every time I see it. That’s what I hope to feel when I look back on my dress in 20 years time.”
Their stately wedding was not without its lighter side, with Chris, 30, leaving out “a few key words” from his vows. “Instead of saying, ‘I promise to be true to you in good times and bad,’ recalls Elena, “all he said was, ‘I promise to be bad!’ The church of course lit up with laughter, including me.”
One year on, Elena reflects, “The time leading up to Christmas is always so special but now has a much greater meaning for us – it will always bring us back to that wonderful time in our lives.”

“Since I can remember, all I have ever wanted is to be surrounded by white flowers on the day of my wedding,” says Elena of the Vesna Grasso classic white peony bouquets.
The day Chris found his Hugo Boss suit, the pair had popped into the store for a ‘quick’ look. Says Elena, “Two hours later we walked out with the most incredible two piece tuxedo.”
“During Christmas, the QVB creates the most delightful ambiance,” says the bride.
The incredible bridal table featured a floral hedge with asparagus fern, singapore orchids and phaleanopsis orchids.
