Holidaying interstate led to Caylee Gamble’s chance meeting with future husband, then defence-employed, Nicholas Rolfe.

“We exchanged numbers and it began there – a seven-year relationship containing two years long-distance, and two deployments,” tells Caylee, 24. “We have survived what many can’t.”

Caylee from Perth, and Nicholas, 30, from Queanbeyan, NSW, wed on March 18, 2017 in Googong NSW. Having spent three months renovating, landscaping, and DIYing, the pair married at their rustic country wedding, at Nicholas’ parent’s family home, among 95 family and friends.

“It ran like clockwork,” says Caylee of their special day. “The wedding was happy, relaxed, carefree, and fun – just like us!”

“Was it stress free? No. Was it a Vogue-worthy wedding? No,” reflects Caylee. “But I wouldn’t change a damn thing.”

Nicholas, Caylee’s dad, and her brother built the tables by hand, and Caylee’s mother and aunties made all the table decorations.

“We brainstormed what we liked to eat while drinking,” Caylee tells of the catering. “And it was delicious, moreish finger food. There was so much food!”

As Caylee lived in a different state to her mother and bridesmaids, choosing her wedding dress had to be done via Skype. The gorgeous strapless gown is by Luv Bridal in Brisbane.

“I gave my bridesmaids complete creative control over their dress styles, assuming they chose the same colour and length,” Caylee says. “They all chose a different style, and everyone absolutely loved it!”

Says Caylyee, “Our wedding didn’t pretend to be something it wasn’t. It was us. It was real. And it was the best day of our lives.”
