My partner, Sarah and I were lucky enough to stay on Melrose Park farm for a week and then have our dream wedding ceremony and reception right on site. We would like to thank Elizabeth and family for allowing us this privilege and for their hard work, sincerity, thoughtfulness and help in making this a magical experience for us. It is impossible to visit Melrose park and not absolutely fall in love. This property effortlessly cradles the balance between rustic rural authenticity and historic opulence. From the idyllic hillside vista of this stunning redbrick 1800's homestead you can drink in breathtaking panoramic views across quaint farmland, vineyards, olive groves, orchards, rainbow trout filled creeks and romantic blue haze layered hills. You can walk the extensive grounds and meet the sheep, goats, deer (including a very large and friendly elk), springbok, cows and of course PigPig (the family favourite). The accomodation options on the property are very well considered. From the quirkyness and privacy of the very well converted silo accomodation, to the 'deer cottage' which virtually acts as an in situ safari Park. There is of course also the homestead itself. This home is one of the most impressive early colonial examples west of the Great Dividing Range and was a privilege to stay in and explore. The property also contains what is known as the 'Wed Shed'. The owners have carefully and thoughtfully reappointed, reshaped, redesigned and repurposed an old cow shed and turned it into what can only be described as rustic bliss. This venue came alive at night and was the perfect place to hold our wedding reception. Thanks again for the lifelong memories. We miss Melrose already! Jamie and Sarah

March 2019

From the moment we stepped into Melrose Park, Tom and I knew this is where we were meant to get married. We fell instantly in love with the open, lush and undisputedly romantic landscape; completely original and completely untouched. We absolutely adored the layout of the grounds, the stunning converted Wedshed Barn and the ability to completely personalise our day. We actually originally planned to only hold the reception here, but after exploring the grounds we just could not resist also saying our vows under two gorgeous cedar trees on the front lawn; complete with mix-match wooden chairs, native flower arrangements and hessian-covered hay bales. My absolute dream ceremony. And we were able to tap into the local Mudgee businesses for catering, hair & makeup as well as flowers, photography and transport- we couldn’t believe the high standard of these suppliers & couldn’t have been happier with the results. We also had the opportunity to use the other dynamic spaces on the property for the Bridal Party to get ready that morning- girls in a spacious, well-lit heritage cottage and the boys in two converted grain silos! Not kidding! Totally unforgettable experiences which created stunning photography we can forever keep. Elizabeth and Patrick- you could not have been more hospitable and your effortless style, contagious energy and sincere passion for offering a day that each couple can call their own made our big day truly unique. Tom and I could not thank you enough for allowing us to use & personalise your gorgeous property. Almost 1 year on and we continue to receive raving reviews from our guests who were blown away by the beauty of Melrose Park and how much they thought it was “so Beth and Tom!”. I wish more than anything we could do this all over! Thanks again, with love from Mr & Mrs Davies.

Do venues charge more for weddings on Public Holidays?

HI All My partner and I are considering getting married on Monday 5/10/20, which is Labour Day in the ACT and NSW. We were wondering if the venue hire would be increased, or if vendors would increase their fees? I understand that many may just charge the weekend rate, which is fine, but I'm just checking. Thanks!

Melrose Park Mudgee

Dear Lauren,

Thank you for your question . Here at Melrose Park, Mudgee, we do not charge extra when a client books to have a wedding on a public holiday.

Wishing you every success and happiness with all your plans.

Kind regards

Elizabeth
