A historic mill town (over 34 cottages) nestled deep in the heart of Australia's South West karri forests, it's the perfect place for a unique escape from the hustles and hassles of modern life.
Donnelly is the only forest holiday destination in the region that has both large function centre facilities and ample accommodation to house hundreds of guests all in the one place.
To be honest, there's nothing fancy five star or silver service about a Donnelly wedding. It is a canvas for you to create your own unique idea of a perfect wedding.
What we do have is billions of stars twinkling over-head at night, dappled morning light through the trees and old world charm.
A growing number of happy couples have picked up the tradition and staged their ceremony under the karris of Donnelly, with their families and friends staying in their own cottages and the bridal party in either the Old Boarding House or Loco shed.
We have seen many different event scenarios as the village is a wonderful blank canvas. We will go the extra mile to help you and your guests have a wonderful day and can put you in touch with many talented and professional local wedding suppliers.

FAQ
We are not licenced for caravans and campers. The only accommodation on site are our self contained cottages (we can accomodate up to 350 pax). We can offer a safe parking spot for caravans and campers whilst you stay in our cottages. Please let us know if this is required and we can point you in the right direction.
We do have some cottages that are more readily accessible for people who rely on wheelchairs etc. Please talk to us to make sure you have booked these cottages if required. The pathways around Donnelly are uneven gravel but there is vehicle access to the Workers Club and around the village.
Yes, we have a number of excellent local caterers that we recommend and who have catered for weddings at Donnelly River in the past. Local photographers, hairdressers, and local florists love coming to do a Donnelly weddings. We can also recommend carriage rides, hay bale suppliers, babysitters, bar staff etc. Please see our suppliers list for more information.
Each cottage is a self-contained 1950's mill workers cottage. The cottages are people's holiday homes and they lease them to guests via our management company. The furnishings vary in decor and the kitchens have fridges, stoves, microwaves and enough crockery and pans for the number of beds. Each cottage is heated by a wood burning heater and you will find wood provided for the heater at the various wood heaps around the village.
As we have resident wildlife roaming the village we are unable to allow pets onsite. We can make an exception if you wish to have your dog at the ceremony. We ask that your dog is transported in and out for the ceremony only for the safety and well being of all animals involved. Please discuss this on booking and we will help you to arrange it.
We do provide fire pits for outdoor fires during the non fire ban period (May-Nov). Please check with us on approximate dates as these may change according to weather conditions. You will need to bring your own wood for the outdoor fire pits.

With the majority of weddings at our venue, the bridal table is closest to the action. The bridal couple then chooses who they wish to have closest to them.
whats the price difference between a weekend and week day wedding?

We offer a mid week special of stay for 4 nights and pay for 3. Plus the venue hire is at a discounted rate.
Availability midweek is more flexible than weekends.
