The Franklin Palais Theatre

Celebrate your wedding in unique style, by hiring our beautiful and historic Federation and Art Deco-styled theatre in Franklin.

This beautiful theatre has been at the social heart of the Huon region since 1912; it is a popular and affordable wedding venue and is available now for bookings.

Located in Franklin in the Huon Valley, a 30 minute drive south of Hobart Tasmania, the Palais provides a wedding-space like no other. 

The art deco grandeur of the main hall, which comfortably seats 150 for a wedding, looks and feels stunning when you add your own personal touches - it’s your celebration! 

We have a lovely period decorated room adjacent to the hall, that has a bar area and bar fridge.

The main stage has funky lighting, 6m wide screen and excellent audio facilities and our digital projector can be hired to play film or music. There are even change rooms if you need to slip into something more comfortable.

Our upstairs carpeted and heated Supper room, with eclectic furniture is suitable for more intimate receptions or weddings; it has seating for 40, or standing room for 70 if serving drinks and canapes.  It includes a bar area where pre-prepared food can be heated in an oven, microwave or food warmer. 

The Palais is also a proud supporter of the LGBTI wedding industry.

The Palais does not permit food preparation onsite, but we are happy to help you find a local caterer for your event.

Our theatre has ground floor wheeled access and there are wheeled access toilet facilities. 

The Palais offers an affordable wedding package that includes:

�      Hire of Main hall plus downstairs and upstairs bar areas for 3 days: wedding day, plus a day either side, for set up and cleaning up.

�      Glasses (wine, champagne, beer/water).

�      Tea/coffee cups & teaspoons.

�      One large & one small hot water urn.

�      Public Liability Insurance.

�      Trestles and chairs.

�      P. A. includes microphone, CD / MP3 player.

�      2 large bar fridges (one upstairs, one downstairs)

Welcome. The Franklin Palais Theatre is a community owned and community run theatre. The volunteer committee of the Franklin Palais manage the Theatre on behalf of our community. We are not for profit and all monies raised assist with the ongoing management and restoration of our Theatre. Our theatre has held weddings and receptions for overs 70 years! And we run monthly Classic Movie nights too.
