Tash & PJ were beyond professional and we were SO beyond impressed at how they thought of everything and took care of every little detail. We were able to relax on the wedding day while they ensured everything ran smoothly. We couldn't have been happier with them and we wish we could do it all over again just to work with them again! Thanks guys xx

Tash & PJ made the day run so smoothly and took care of all the little details that I otherwise wouldn't have thought about. They kept everything on track, which allowed ourselves and our families to actually enjoy the wedding day without worrying about all the little things going on in the background. I would highly recommend Indi Event Management to anyone! Thank you very much!

How do you plan a wedding timeline.

Currently stuck on whether to start the cemermony at 2 or 2.30, is it best to talk to the photographer to see how much time they need for photos? And discuss with hair and makeup for their timeframe?

indi event management

Hi Amber,

Congratulations on your engagement!

To plan an effective and efficient wedding day, we would recommend listing all the key moments of the day e.g. first dance, cutting the cake, throwing the bouqet, speeches, etc.

Give a rough estimate as to how long each of the key moments will take. Armed with that information, approach your services and ask for their timelines. With the photographer - are they a journalism style or set piece type of photographer? The reason I ask is one doesn't need as much allocated time as the other.

Once you have your list of events and their timings, you'll need to list each of the events in order. It's best to give yourself a little wiggle room with each item in the list, so add an extra 20% to each timeframe just to be safe.

If you're able to, designate one of the bridal party or a guest to be the co-ordinator for the day, and provide them a print-out of the schedule to check off so that you don't have to worry about a thing!

DIY Catering. To do or not to do?

We have an informal venue already booked. Their in-house catering is not good but we can't bring in outside caterers. Have lots of friends willing to help. Having a meat/cheese/antipasto style buffet out but wondering what other options we could make ahead of time and bring in and heat up as hot canapes and buffet style meal for later?

indi event management

Hi Nicole,

Firstly, congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

Before we provide some options for you, could you let us know what equipment is available at the venue to assist with heating up?

And most importantly, are you allowed to bring food into the venue?

I ask because if the only restriction is bringing caterers on site, you have some amazing options:

  1. Caterers + delivery - a catering company builds you a menu and delivers your food in its final form to someone before the wedding to be taken on site by guests
  2. Restaurant delivery - you could have a restaurant deliver food directly to your venue before the reception.
  3. DIY - If you did decide that DIY was your best option, rather than leaving the specifics to your friends/guests, you should pick what they would cook. Get some information on their skills and then create a plan for the volunteers.

For most of these options, you will need to consider the following:

  1. Who will make desserts/mains/entrees/canapes?
  2. How will they be displayed/delivered/served?
  3. Will food require attention when delivered e.g. heating or cooling?
  4. How many portions will be required? There are some amazing tools online that will help you in calculating how much food will be required per guest
  5. Are there any food allergies you need to consider?
  6. Who will pay for ingredients, preparation, presentation and delivery?
  7. Will you leave the recipies to the volunteers or will you specify a recipe to use?

If you answer the above questions, a DIY catering option could be a blast, with everyone feeling really invested in your wedding.

Let us know if we can be of any further help,

I need some help choosing my wedding venue

I'm looking for affordable hall for my wedding

indi event management

Hi Tifaga,

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials.

If you have some guidelines around location, style of venue and budget, we would love to help you find an incredible wedding venue.

Things I suggest you consider are:

  1. What's your maximum price per person? This will allow you to immediately cut the list down to only places you would be willing and able to pay for.
  2. Do you want the venue to supply your wedding with chairs/tables/sound equipment and the like, or would you prefer an empty venue in which you will have more control?

I highly recommend you look at a website like 'halls for hire'

This website allows you to set a central post code, a distance range and a filter for the number of guests. Most of the halls are specifically function halls and are regularly used to host weddings. Most exciting of all, this site actually gives you a cost per person which when budgeting a wedding can be a huge time saver.

If you are looking for a wedding planner or a wedding coordinator to assist you in planning, budgeting or coordinating your wedding, you're welcome to get in touch,
