Hi my name is Jess and I have a passion for photography. My vision for your special day is to create unique and creative memories.

I am a world traveller and have now decided to return to my hometown of Newcastle after living in beautiful Queenstown, New Zealand.

I have studied photography for a total of 3 years and have been a wedding and event photographer for 5 years.

Event photography can be expensive but it does not have to be. I truly believe that the best should be available to everyone. I offer per hour photography or complete packages for weddings, maternity, birthdays, engagements, children, pets and events.

For the past six years l've been practicing various new skills and techniques to perfect my images so that l can capture my client's memories on their special day. I have developed my own style after three years of training to make my images unique and hopefully to connect with a client's view of what their photos should represent and reflect. I bring a fun and intimate feeling to my photo sessions too so that my clients will feel relaxed and look completely natural

My now husband and I had to choose a photographer last minute as ours cancelled on us pretty late, we had heard about Jess through a mutual friend so decided to try her. She was so happy to do it even with a few days notice. She was perfect on the day, punctual, friendly and full of ideas. She is very creative with her photos and makes sure your involved the whole time so your getting the perfect photos that you wanted. I would highly recommend Jess to anyone for any occasion. She has a passion for photography and it really shows through her photos.

How much notice do you need for overtime requests?

If a photographer has specified how many hours you will receive and you know beforehand you will need more then as soon as you know the real hours then you should inform them. If a photographer has over-time pricing and you've agreed to this then there might not be a problem but this is more for events running overtime on the day because of outside factors and only for at maximum an hour overtime in most cases.

If your event is running late into the night and you think beforehand it might run over then inform them ASAP because they might have another wedding to prepare for in the morning or might not be able to stay without forewarning because of family, transport or other work commitments.

So in short, inform them as soon as you know even if it is just a precaution.

What questions should you ask when searching for the right photographer?

Also legal to make sure you are covered, documents to watch for or enquire regarding booking what should the photographer give you to seal the deal.

Legal questions

What's in your contract? Read it carefully and if there's something that's not clear or bothering you then ask.
The legal rights to the photos of the client and the photographer in their contracts so there's no miscommunication. The delivery of the final photos (i.e. USB, online download, or CD).
How/what payments are needed to secure a booking and what happens when either party needs to cancel.

Photo questions

You should always ask the style or aesthetic that the photographer tries to capture; the edits, angles or compositon might not be what you're after.
The number of weddings the photographer has completed
If they have a dropbox or website with their full range of work (they usually do!)
If you can use example images of work for the photographer to recreate

Photographers are always up for a challenge or want to be asked new questions they would never have thought of! Every wedding is unique and every bride will ask a new question

How do I stop guests from posting photos on social media before I do?

It's always good to either post it on the event page if you have one, write it on your inviations or have a card in the invitation package AND have a huuuuuge sign as the guests enter the venue. With these three things guests can't say they missed the memo and any photos that do get posted are beyong your best efforts.

Also, if you don't mind being that bride you can always ask your friends and family (or even the photographer) to ask people to no take photos if they see anyone taking pictures on their phones.
