OVERVIEW

Clements and the Fox are documentary-style wedding photographers. We are a wife-and-husband duo, based in Maylands, WA.

Hi there!

We craft whimsical, artistic and romantic wedding images, for couples who are MADLY and DEEPLY in love.

We do this by providing one-on-one support and guidance to couples who are new to the wedding planning journey. We work with couples who aren't necessarily looking for perfection or are fussy about tradition but who want to get the most out of their photographs. We photograph couples who might feel a bit nervous in front of a camera, and yet are also looking to create something magical, beautiful, original and nostalgic and even have their favourite images made into a work of art.

We work super hard to make sure all of our couples are well looked after from the moment they say hello, to the moment we hand over their incredible wedding images.

We invite you to chat with us about pricing, availability and your wedding plans.

FAQ

Absolutely. There is nothing we would rather be doing than taking pictures of people in love.

We have many friends and family in the LGBTQ community and we whole heartedly believe in supporting them and their choices. Love is love.

#lovewins

Like a delightful fine wine, we believe quality & craftsmanship take time, attention and care. We never want to rush the processing of your images and for that reason we estimate final delivery of your images will take between 8 - 12 weeks.

During peak wedding season, which is roughly September - March in Australia, it will usually take 10 weeks to receive your final package. Just know that we are diligently working on your images to get them to you as soon as possible and we appreciate your patience. If however you would like an expedited turnaround of your photographs, this can be arranged for an additional fee.

Absolutely yes to both!

When we work with our couples, we are asking them to invest in us. We honour our couples by doing everything we possibly can to ensure that their images are protected and kept safe.

We are always well-prepared in our planning. We bring back-up cameras, back-up batteries, back-up memory cards, back-up flashes and while we are shooting, we are shooting on two card slots at the same time. So, if one of the cards ever fail we have an instant backup. And we are happy to say they have never failed us. Not once. Touch wood!

Most people don't and that's okay. All we ask of you is that you trust in us, be open and let us into your world. The more that we know about you, the things that make your heart sing and the important relationships in your life, the better we can tell your story. So please don't hold back on us!

Most people's experience of having their photo taken has been that age old technique of having a camera shoved in their face and forcing the person to say "Cheese!"... How cheesy! We like to think we're slightly more skilled than that ;)

Whilst we cannot change the way you look or how you feel about yourself (that part is up to you), we can do our best to make you feel as comfortable as possible when you are in front of the camera. When shooting your portraits, we will work with you to get you warmed up in a way that is fun and relaxed. Then, as you start to feel comfortable (which we can always tell!), we'll start to focus on capturing what's happening in front of us and give direction when needed.

In order for us to our best work, all we really want is for you to enjoy each other's company.

We have an open, reliable and honest means of communication, where we are committed to providing you with the best customer service. You can chat to us any time and ask questions at any stage throughout the planning process. We know how stressful it can be planning a wedding and we have some good tips to share from our own wedding day. We will work closely with you on your timeline to ensure there is time to breathe and relax on your wedding day as well as capture you in the best light of the day (during golden hour).

We also have online systems to help organise our couples, where we keep important information such as documents, contracts, reminders, timelines and questionnaires. These are easily viewed online and keeps paper waste to a minimum.

The long term future of the world is really important to us and we one day want to raise a family here. So making sure that Mother Earth is well looked after and is thriving for the next generation is really important.

We aim to cut down on waste, in our personal lives and business lives. We aim to be more conscious by really looking after ourselves so that we can perform at our best and make good choices.

Should wedding photographers have two cameras?

Clements and the Fox

Yes! Absolutely. Two at a minimum, three is better.

When a photographer is hired by a couple to take their wedding photographs, they have a responsibility to capture the events as the unfold. You want a photographer to capture the love between the couple, the candid, fun and silly moments and the overall essence of the day. More than that, photographers are capturing a moment in time, a legacy of the family history and adding their style and artistic vision to these photographs.

If a photographer has only one camera on the day, and for some unforeseen reason, the camera fails, breaks, is lost, stolen, or damaged by the weather, then the photographer has failed their responsibility and due diligence to the couple, by not providing back-ups.

As a professional, I carry two camera bodies with me at all times, with different sized lenses, meaning I can interchange between the two cameras very quickly. This means I'm not going to miss important events, by spending  unnecessary time changing the lenses. I also have a third camera as backup, (which my assistant uses during the ceremony to capture a different angle).

If you're wanting to hire a professional photographer, who is serious about the high quality of work they produce, make sure you ask what camera gear they are using and what back-ups they have in place.

Will photographers photoshop my body?

Clements and the Fox

It depends on who you hire, but I choose not to photoshop my couples to change or enhance the way they look.

I am known for my documentary-style photography, which means I capture moments as I see them unfold. I do my best not to interfere with what's happening in front of me and only subtly direct people on the day. (I do a lot of pre-planning and offer adventure shoots to serve as a practise run before the wedding. Most couples who do this are more relaxed and natural on the day, because they have already seen how I work and can get feedback on how they look in images before the wedding day. This can build a lot of self confidence).

In saying that however, if a bridge or groom had a particularly obvious/stand-out blemish that they didn't normally have, but it happened to appear on the wedding day, I may edit some of these out in close-up portraits. If a bride or groom is requesting I photoshop the size and shape of their body however, I will politely decline as this is not within my style of photography. I love to capture the essence of people, as I see them in the moment.

Does the photographer drive themselves to the locations?

Would the photographer come with us or drive themselves?

Clements and the Fox

Yes absolutely!

We have always been responsible for driving ourselves to and from all locations. This is not something I would want my couple to worry or stress about.

It also means that we can arrive at certain places ahead of the couple if need be. For example, to scope out a location and assess the lighting, or to arrive early to the ceremony to capture images of guests arriving, or early to the reception to capture the details and styling of your venue.

I have had a few couples jump in the car with us, when we have sneaked off in private to take images of just the two of them <3
