Jaka Adamic Wedding Photography

A world-renowned photographer, Jaka Adamic was put under photography spell as a six-year-old child holding his father’s Practica TL camera for the first time. During his high school years, a camera was always slung over his shoulder, and with his passion for photography constantly growing, Jaka knew he found his calling.

He started his career as a photojournalist in 1996, working for Dnevnik, one of the two largest Slovene daily newspapers. Covering major domestic and international events in politics, sports and culture, he was sent to conflict zones, such as Afghanistan and Kosovo. He worked with agencies such as Associated Press (AP) and European Press Agency (EPA), and with the editorial boards of international publications such as Helsingin Sanomat.

Jaka won several awards, including the 2005 Consortium Veritatis award for reportage photography. In 2009, he received a commendation in the News category of the Slovenia Press Photo competition. He took part in several group exhibitions (including Covering the Real exhibition in Paris, 2007) and had a solo exhibition at FotoPub photography festival in Novo Mesto in 2006. He is a co-founder of Zorye Kolektiv, the first photojournalism collective in Slovenia.

In January 2012, Jaka moved to Australia; however, his work is still regularly published in printed and online editions of Dnevnik – Publishing Group.

He resides in the Northern Rivers in NSW, and works mainly on the East Coast of Australia.
