Why choose us?

Because there's no substitute for Experience.

The truth is, it takes more than just skill to be a great wedding musician... it takes a wealth of experience in the bridal industry, extensive musical knowledge, intimate understanding of ceremony timing, AND the necessary performing skills to facilitate a seamless ceremony.

Our main atist Dave Calandra has been performing professionally for over two decades. During that time he has played thousands of shows in all manner of venues ranging from small bars and clubs to major festivals and events, toured nationally and internationally and released several full length albums. He has worked as a session guitarist in film and television, had a number of songs used in Australian and US TV shows and commercials, and was even featured as the romantic background guitarist on The Bachelor!

Over the past fifteen years he has performed at over 300 weddings in such diverse locations as barefoot beach-side ceremonies, city cathedrals, country estates, wineries, gardens, private residences, and all the major wedding function venues in Sydney. This extensive performing history makes him a versatile entertainer, with all the skills and equipment required to adapt his performance for almost any sized event and location.

Yes, absolutely. I'm performing in public venues at least three times a week and you're most welcome to come along if you'd like to hear songs in person.

Yes. The booking fee includes supply and set-up of all equipment. A battery powered system is also available for more remote locations.

Absolutely. It makes a huge difference to the mood of the ceremony if guests are made to feel welcome and comfortable with relaxing background music. I usually recommend starting half an hour before the ceremony.

I need help finding my song for walking down the aisle

I'm interested in a modern version of the wedding march I also need music for the rest of the ceremony

Sydney Wedding Guitarist

Hi Caroline,

Just a quick tip about ceremony music... when you're choosing a processional piece, try to find something that is a good pace for walking, (in my opinion slower songs work better than upbeat ones). Feel free to contact me for a list of suggestions.

The register signing is the longest part of the ceremony for music, you'll have between 3 and 5 minutes of signing and photos. This is a great time for a favorite song to be played, something that's meaningful to you and your partner. In my experience, anything with a gentle mood will work well for the signing.

The recessional piece (as you walk back down the aisle together) is a great time for something upbeat and celebratory. Your guests will most likely be clapping and cheering so it's more about finding something that suits this mood, rather than the lyrics of the song which will probably be drowned out!

All the best for your wedding

What's the best way to choose my wedding music?

I'm not sure how to go about choosing my wedding music. Do you have any advice for curating the soundtrack?

Sydney Wedding Guitarist

Hi Lucy,

If you're referring to ceremony music, the mood of the song is quite important, as well as the tempo. An ideal processional piece will have a pace that's easy to walk to, and a lyrical message that resonates with you, or an instrumental mood that suits your style. The register-signing piece is the longest musical interlude during the ceremony and at this point it works well to have something relaxed and contemplative, as there are still formalities to be finalized before the celebrations begin. As you walk back down the aisle as a married couple, the recessional piece works best when it's upbeat and joyful, representing the start of the celebrations and the next stage of the wedding.

I hope this info helps and feel free to be in touch with any other questions.

Kind regards,

Dave
