My voice has a swing tone and I cover a broad songbook of jazz standards, contemporary pop, classic love songs & blues ballads.

I'm a jazz soloist ready to put the SWING into your special day. I perform covers of a broad range of popular songs. From American standards like "At Last", "A Sunday Kind Of Love", "For Once In My Life" and "Can't Help Falling In Love" to jazzy remixes of modern pop songs including "Are You Gonna Be My Girl", "Crazy In Love", "Kiss Me", "Thinking Out Loud", "Seven Nation Army" and "No Diggity".
I offer a variety of packages to suit your ceremony (processional, signing & recessional), reception or the whole kit n' kaboodle.
The best bit about The Witching Hour? I offer a big band sound for a fraction of the price. As a soloist, I perform to high quality backing tracks complete with retro microphone, vintage music stand and my own speaker system suited to indoor or outdoor events that doesn't require enormous amounts of space or set-up.
I have a generous song book I'd be happy to share with you and tailor a track list suited to your big day. Got a special request? No problem. Recent requests added to my repertoire have included Ed Sheeran's "Perfect", Florence & The Machine's "Stand By Me", Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds" and Beyonce's "Halo".
I have been honoured to sing at weddings around Australia and abroad as well as various conferences & events and a monthly cabaret-style show in Sydney.

I have trained as a performer all my life - raised on a healthy diet of American jazz standards and movie musicals. Over the years my passion for singing jazz and blues in particular has grown. 'The Witching Hour', has grown over the past three years from a much loved hobby to a successful business. I love being apart of what will become one of the most memorable day of people's lives. It's a honour and a helluva lotta fun!

Absolutely! Get in touch with details of your location and I'll put together a quote including travel. If it's driveable (ie. Hunter Valley, South Coast) we'll factor that in. I've also performed at weddings interstate and overseas.
Sure do. Actually I prefer it. It works perfectly with my backing tracks and I can fit in all sorts of clever spaces with the set-up. My microphone is vintage in style and my speaker system is Roland. Unfortunately, I can't loan my microphone for your speeches.
This is no problem. An hour extension can be arranged in advance to add onto a package and quite likely it can be arranged on the day if you need more jazz! Time extensions cost $350 per hour.

The business name has two origins... one is simply a play on my own name Kate Witchard
The other is because 'The Witching Hour' was born out of a performance at my brother's wedding years ago. He was concerned about filling the transitional times in the day when the guests might become restless... waiting for the wedding to begin, waiting for photos to be taken, waiting for the bride and groom to arrive at the reception. So I sang my heart out to keep the mood high and the party in full swing.
Most definitely. While my voice always has a jazz tone, many of the songs I sing at weddings have a more stripped back feel which is perfect for ceremony music in particular. My favourites are acoustic covers of "Perfect", "Thinking Out Loud", "Love Me Tender", "Stand By Me" and "Can't Help Falling In Love".
I love requests and do my very best to accommodate them! Recent requests have included Beyonce's "Halo", Ed Sheeran's "Perfect", Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds" and Florence & The Machine's version of "Stand By Me". It's fun adding to my repertoire.
For your ceremony (Processional, Signing & Recessional) it's really important you pick or request those songs that are special to you. For longer sets I'll discuss the vibe you're after with you and put together a set for the day I know will hit the mark based on my experience.
Thanks for asking! Personally, Etta James' "At Last" always puts a smile on my dial. It's the one I'm always singing at home around the house with my fella so it's special to us.
