About
The band formed in high school many moons ago.. (Karl, Dave and me). We've also played in other bands but decided to reform when I couldn't find a band that I liked for our wedding. So we literally got the band back together (with my all star mates) and then had two of our guests want us to play at their events so we decided it was time. I was the CEO of a major real estate brand where I also gained my experience in events as we ran many, which definitely helps when planning wedding days!

Technically the Urban Legends have played at approximately 30 weddings over the last 5 or so years (since we reformed as the Urban Legends..) although 4 of the band members have played in other bands together and have known each other since high school days, having played at many weddings since our early 20's.. at which case we'd say we've done hundreds over the last 30 years.
Having performed at literally hundreds of weddings over a 30 year span.. we've seen it all, and find ourselves making suggestions and guiding our couples through a run sheet to make sure that things will flow on the night.
We get involved with both the venue planner and the MC in order to make sure that all you need to do is to enjoy your moment (we will make sure the music and entertainment is taken care of), and that we're all on the same page to make sure your night is better than what you had envisioned.
We will also play your playlist in between sets (or ours), and make sure that we've got the dance floor packed as they're the moments where your guests will be looking forward to as they dance the night away and sing along to the classics that everyone loves as our music caters for all age groups.
In our minds, the most successful weddings are those where clearly the work and preparation has been done prior to the event, the event coordinators and entertainment work well together and they understand that the bride and groom and their guests come first. They have provided the necessary guidance and have then taken charge to do what they do best on the day and night.
Weddings are amazing as they are a celebration of love - the common thread that brings us all together.. so there's nothing like a few speeches and a time to let your hair down on the dance floor for people to really celebrate the couple they love and are overwhelmed as they become husband and wife.
So a successful wedding for us is a night where the guests all can't believe just how good a time they've had.. the bride and groom gives us a smile and a pat on the back and everyone is exhausted and dont want the night to end..
and maybe not everything went according to the plan, but somehow, it didnt really matter cause things turned out even better than planned.
Unfortunately, time flies when we're having fun.. so the best answer to this question is something we always advise our bride and groom to do.
Take a moment just for yoursleves tonight, to spend a few minutes alone and take it all in.. enjoy a drink together or eat the wedding cake together? because you are the center of attention all day and all night, so the night will fly by in the blink of an eye.. take a moment to be in the moment, just for yourselves.
we'll keep them entertained in the meantime and just think.. they wont let you get away for too long anyways.
