Wedding flower cost all depends on the type of flowers you choose and the scope of the work involved. Go into your meeting with yor florist with a clear idea of what you want to spend on your flowers and use thier expert advise to guide you through flower choice so you are getting the value for your money and achieve the visual display you have your heart set on.
Ideally you want to secure a florist by putting down a design/date deposit ASAP because dates fill quickly but you might want to hold off on the design discussion until you have the other big items, dresses, coulor scheme, location etc.
Blooms are there to bring together the overall look and feel of the wedding and can make a huge difference to the photos and experiance of your wedding day, so bring us everything you have booked and show us your style so we can design your blooms to elevate your wedding day. Around 6-8 months out from your date I like to have a discussion about the style direction your wedding is taking and lock in key elements.

I love to meet my couples, it gives me so much insight into your personalities and collective vision of your wedding day. It is far easier to gauge what parts of your day are most important to you and being that your wedding is all about you, this is invaluable info from a designers point of view.
I recommend if you have connected with the florists work on social media or in person and it made you want to have their art in your wedding then definately set up a time to discuss it further. If they charge a consult/design fee then it is worth paying for. Mostly these cost are taken off your invoice when you book and are there to protect there intellectual property and hours (yes, many hours) that go in to properly quoting for an important event like your wedding.

If you are really stuck on that Florist then that means you have connected with thier work which is fantastic and such a compliment to a designer. Give the florist you love a call and follow up with them. This time of year is busy for the weding industry and as much as we hope to get back to everyone and absolutely value everyone who takes the time to enquire, sometimes emails slip through so the call will allow them to take a look and rectify the situation, or if they are full they will be able to point you in the direction of another florist with the same style.

is there any way to keep my flowers looking fresh all day?

If you use a professional florist you should have no issues with your flowers looking fresh all day, except in extreme weather conditions which a season florist will allow for when discussing flower choices for your date.
Also you need to be careful where you place them if you have to put them down, don't play with the petals(this is hard because they are sooo pretty but I believe in you!) or leave them in direct sun for too long and have the venue place vases that have water in them ready for your arrival at the reception so you don't squish(technical term) the blooms by laying them down.
