I make fondant and buttercream cakes in a variety of contemporary styles. I never use the same design twice, so your cake is guaranteed to be unique.

Mind Over Batter cakes are baked fresh with the greatest attention to detail. I use fair-trade vanilla, free-range eggs, and quality ingredients. I can cater for gluten-free and vegan cakes as well as allergies and dietary requirements. I also offer custom cookies, cupcakes, and donuts.

About

I started Mind Over Batter in 2016 and have made 200+ unique cakes for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers and half a dozen corporate and charity events. I’m confident I have the skills and experience to make the perfect cake for your special day. I won the VCE Cake Decorating Division at the Royal Melbourne Show 2017, and in 2019 I helped work on a cake that won Best Show Piece at the Cake Masters Awards. I was featured in The Age in August 2018.

From the moment of first contacting Josie 6 postponements ago to now - 2 days post wedding - she was nothing short of wonderful. Josie was flexible and kind and very easy to communicate with. She was also very helpful with her advice on design and style, as I wasn't 100% sure what I wanted. The cake itself was stunning and beautifully decorated with fresh blooms and macarons, and it tasted absolutely delicious. Even though I never physically met Josie, I could tell that she really cared about us and our day. During the 6 postponements the wedding plans changed every time and Josie was more than happy to accomodate the new venue/date/location. Check out her instagram to see some of her other brilliant work! @mind_over_batter_ For those wondering we had a salted caramel, single tier, semi naked cake.

How far in advance do we need to book a wedding cake?

What's the usual lead time on a wedding cake including tastings please?

Mind Over Batter

Right now, given the state of COVID lockdowns, you might be able to make a booking with only a month's notice, as there are a lot of cancellations. That being said, individual vendors get booked up at different rates, and it's best to book as early as possible, especially for a wedding at peak times. Around six months is average.
