Cakes by Grannie

Cakes by Grannie offers a unique opportunity for a very personalised wedding cake. My cakes are:

* Individual, no two cakes are the same

* Designed in consultation with you to enhance the theme of your wedding, whether traditional, funky or made to express your interests or hobbies.

*Made from natural ingredients in my licensed home kitchen. I use traditional recipes, sometimes with a small tier of fruit cake to please other grannies, but launching out on the other tiers using various mud cakes and other flavours. I am open to testing any new or different recipes.

*Decorated with traditional fondant, Royal Icing or Buttercream, or semi-naked cakes decorated with fruit or fresh flowers. Sugar flowers are a speciality, either botanically correct or fantasy flowers. Buttercream flowers are soft, beautiful and delicious. Intricate piping, stencils, ruffles and gold and silver leaf are used for more formal and elaborate designs.

Memorable and visually enchanting, the cakes taste delicious. The comment most often made after the event is “the cake tasted as good as it looked”.

Hi! My name is Elizabeth, A.K.A Grannie, and I put my heart into everything I do! With a first career as a paediatric nurse and later working in the antique auction industry, the integration of the practical with the artistic became an enduring fascination for me. Most recently I studied sugar art to exhibition level, sugar flowers adorning my signature pieces. The hobby of many years of sugar art and cake decoration has become a third career which is enjoyable and very satisfying!
