In Victoria's breathtaking Otway Ranges — just outside of Lorne and close to the Great Ocean Road, King Parrot Cottages and Event Centre provides a rustic setting for DIY weddings. Secluded and magical, King Parrot Cottages and Event Centre hosts both formal and informal weddings, with the intimate Lodge and Hall ideal for laidback, botique, initimate weddings. Ceremonies can be held in the Enchanted Garden amid birdsong and towering trees, on the lawn in front of the lodge and hall with a gorgeous view of the Pennyroyal Valley in the background or an intimate forest wedding beside the creek. You have access to the whole 200-acre grounds for endless stunning photo opporuntiies. The options are endless! The best part? Your fur babies are invited to come and watch you wed — and feature in the photo shoot afterwards, of course.

Our family acquired King Parrot Cottages and Event Centre in May of 2021. Ryan and I have two sons, Taj and Zac. All four of us love the bush and adventure. Ryan and I have a particular passion for bringing people together in a natural environment. Hosting weddings is a wonderful way to do this and we take great pleasure in hosting weddings at our venue.

Get Expert AdviceIs it a risk having a slightly outdoor wedding in August? Is it too cold?
My partner and I have finally decided on a venue and we are both in love with it - however it has an open area where the reception dinner is - it has a roof but has open walls. The venue supply mushroom heaters but i'm getting concerned that it will be too cold for guests. Does anyone have any experience in this? Thank you!
King Parrot Cottages & Event Centre
King Parrot is located on the fringes of the Otway Ranges. Traditionally August is winter in the Southern Hemisphere therefore you would expect a cool day.Guests at King Parrot hire a marquee at this time of year with heaters lining the edges.
Will venues generally allow you to take pictures before the ceremony?
I want to do a photo shoot before my wedding in our set-up reception venue, is that too much to ask? Or is that a common thing...?

We are very happy for photos to be taken throughout your stay at King Parrot Cottages. There are many photo opportunities from large hillside field expanse to a forested bush setting surrounded by tall timber and around a meandering creek on the forest floor amongst tree ferns and rainforest.
Do I need security at my venue?
Do most venues provide this or do I need to look around? I don't know if I need it, but we have a large group (210) so I wanted to know if that means I need it? Also what is the ratio of security to guests?

At King Parrot Cottages we supply a security guard whose job is mainly one of safety and chauffeuring guests back to their cottages or the campground if they wish.
