About

I am passionate about making your wedding personal, authentic and beautiful. I live in the Illawarra with my family and work as a writer and celebrant. In my spare time I love to be with my family and friends, preferably on a bushwalk or eating something delicious. I enjoy working with you to incorporate your personal love story into your wedding. I am very happy to include family, cultural and interfaith traditions that are meaningful to you and your families.

Easy Weddings Special Offer

Limited Time Offer

I am relatively new to the online space, having worked by referral since I started working as a celebrant in 2017.  But now I have a business coach (i.e. my husband) telling me to get professional and work with social media (and not just to look at cute pictures of puppies).

So I am happy to offer a $100 discount on my usual rates to couples who are prepared to write an honest review on Easy Weddings and / or Google within a month after the wedding.

This means my usual fee of $895 is reduced to $795! Bookings can be for any time in the next 12 months. Get in touch!

FAQ

Of course! I recently had a dog as ringbearer and a goose as the self-appointed chief wedding advisor. We can do whatever you want, to make your day precious and memorable and exactly reflective of you.

Basically at least one month before the wedding, I need to receive a "Notice of Intended Marriage" (NOIM) from you and your partner. I will sight your ID (birth certificate or passport) and fill in the form with you.

On the wedding day, you, your partner and 2 witnesses sign a Certificate of Marriage and 2 x "Official Certificate of Marriage." I lodge this with the NSW Births Deaths and Marriages (BDM), and you are MARRIED!

If you need to change your names, you have to apply for another document from BDM, which I can also help you with. So don't worry about the legals - that's my lookout and I will take care of it all for you.

It's really up to you!

I am a published author and have a PhD in creative writing from the University of NSW, so I am really happy to write the ceremony with your guidance and approval. I can write your 'love story' based on what you tell me - how you met, what drew you to each other, your journey to this day. I read this out towards the start of the ceremony, or we get some of your people to read it out. Both are really lovely ways to start the ceremony with what we are all there for - you.

There is a bit of legal language which you, your partner and I have to say, but otherwise you can tailor a ceremony however you want it to be. As a guide, a ceremony typically might have the following elements:

  1. Entrance procession & music
  2. Introduction & 'Celebrant Authority' (a paragraph I have to read out by law)
  3. Telling the love story of you (I can do this, or we can share it out amongst your people)
  4. Reading
  5. Vows
  6. Asking (some legal words here too)
  7. Rings
  8. Declaration
  9. Kiss!
  10. Signing of the Certificates of Marriage (normally have some music here)
  11. Introduction of the Married Couple
  12. Exit procession & music

Really, as long as we cover the legals, you can do whatever you like. For example, you might want more than one reading, or none; you might want to add a ritual from your ancestry, or create your own ritual. Some beautiful ones which have roots in various cultures include handfasting, receiving a blessing from the families and guests, taking a drink from a shared cup...whatever we do, we will make this special and meaningful to you.

I generally ask couples to write their own vows, and then I ask to see them before the ceremony so I can just check flow, that they are about the same length, and strike a similar tone.

I always tell couples that the best way to think of vows is as two main paragraphs.

  1. Why you love this person.
  2. What you promise this person.

I will help you with your vows too, as much or as little as you want me to!

Jackie was the perfect wedding celebrant for us. She is highly organised – Jackie took care of all the legal paperwork, gave us fantastic feedback on our vows and was exceptionally well prepared for the ceremony (for example, she has a terrific PA system and brought backup copies of our vows). During the ceremony, Jackie set the tone beautifully with her skilful storytelling that elegantly highlighted our love story. We can see why she is a published author! We just loved every minute of our ceremony and received so much positive feedback from our guests (both verbally and in the form of laughter/“happy tears”. One guest described her as “a curator of immaculate vibes”. We give Jackie our highest recommendation! Dan & Kate.

Jackie was amazing. Such a down to earth person who gave us the confidence that our day was going to be amazing from the get go. Asked all the right questions. She really listened to us and incorporated our lives into the ceremony. Honestly brought everyone to tears with our love story, so well spoken. I cannot recommend Jackie highly enough. Would give 10 stars if I could!!! Jackie was just soo amazing to work with. She's so genuine, friendly, warm and professional. She really listens to your requests, and accomplishes what you want for the day. She made the whole process super easy and stress-free. Always so easy to get in contact with, emails, messages and calls. She took care of everything and went above and beyond for us. Even helping me paint my nails on the day, holding and entertaining my baby while we got couple photos taken and assisted with all the little jobs like arranging furniture, helping me fix my bouquet, and makeup touch-ups. Thank you Jackie soo much, you've been more than an wonderful celebrant, you went above and beyond for us and we couldn't thank you enough!!

Thank you lovely Naomi for letting me be part of your magical day! I loved being there, immersed in so much love.

April 2024

We originally had booked with Jackie to be our celebrant, but due to circumstances outside of her control she was unable to attend on the day. Nevertheless, we still highly recommend Jackie as a celebrant because she was so organised with all our paperwork in advance, wrote us a lovely ceremony, and arranged a new celebrant for the day - which was very considerate and helpful and reduced our stress levels greatly! She was also very friendly and had some great advice for what we could include in the ceremony.

April 2024

We had Jackie as our celebrant at our wedding and we couldn't have asked for better. She was recommended to us by a family member who had attended another wedding she officiated. Jackie is warm, professional and knowledgeable. She was very flexible with creating the ceremony to suit us, and ended up writing a beautifully personal introduction. Jackie is easy to get along with, and made preparing for our wedding seamless and calm, as well as managing nerves on the day with light humour and understanding. Many of our guests commented on her style and we were very happy overall.
