OH I love my job :) From beginning to end your ceremony will be filled with ‘you' and presented with genuine warmth. So much of the feedback I receive is filled with thanks for creating a celebration that was really 'present', 'genuine', 'personal', a celebration to be remembered as 'an amazing wedding'. I only book one wedding on any afternoon, I want to be 'present' take time before the ceremony to create a welcome and am never in a rush to leave. Suzanne was absolutely fantastic. It was like meeting someone you had known your whole life. From the first meeting, working through vows to the big day Suzanne made us feel completely comfortable. She even helped us tweak our vows so they were perfect for us on the day. We could not fault a single thing from our ceremony and I believe Suzanne is a key factor in it being so perfect.

If it wasn't for Suzanne I would not have had my amazing elopement at Secrets on the Lake. She told me about this amazing place in Monteville and as soon as I looked it up I was sold. Suzanne was so easy to deal with and everything was done so fast. We only had 40 days from when we booked and she just got it done for us. Everything she did was personal and from the heart. She is an amazing celebrant and I would recommend her every time.

Can I request my celebrant to wear a certain colour or outfit?

I've seen some awful clashing outfits and celebrants in white etc... is it rude to ask them to wear a particular colour or style? I don't know if I'm taking it way too far haha. But I want everything to look good! It is my wedding day, after all :)

You definitely you can request your celebrant not wear a certain colour and also have input into what they will wear.

Usually when you book your celebrant, you've done research and seen photos on websites and Facebook so you have liked their style already.

I am a celebrant and always find out what colour the bridesmaids are wearing, always ask the bride to look through my Facebook history and if there's an outfit she likes let me know ... even if my bride leaves the choice to me, I always make sure I wear something that doesn't clash with the bridesmaids and blends beautifully.

Can we get married in Australia if we are not citizens?

Hi there, I am wondering if you can help me. Myself and my partner are currently residing in Canberra but we are not Australian citizens, we are English citizens, we are here on two year working visas. We are due to get married back in England in December but in order to make it 'legal' we have been advised that we have to get married officially here first. As we will be here on our own we only want something very small and personal, basically it's just to allow us to get married in the uk. Sorry if I have confused you as I appreciate it's a bit complicated but if you could let me know your thoughts it would be much appreciated xx

Hi there,

I'm not sure who's advised you but this information is incorrect.

If you are married legally in Australia, this will be a valid marriage, Australian Marriages are recognised in the UK and you cannot then re-marry in the UK. You 'may' have a commitment ceremony or renewal of vows in the UK as a celebration only, however if you have been validly married here in Australia, that will be your one and only marriage.

In Australia UK citizens and any citizens from other countries can marry, you must give at least one month Notice of Intended Marriage in the form of completing, signing and having the NOIM form witnessed. This form is lodged with your celebrant not later than one month before the planned official wedding date and present the required ID. Once you contact a celebrant they will explain all of this to you and answer any questions you may have.

There will be guidelines similar but not the same as these in the UK.

If you intend to be married in the UK you must contact the office of Births Deaths and Marriages (or equivalent) over there and ask for guidelines, you may be able to give your notice from Australia. I would suggest at least start by researching through the internet. If you wish to be married surrounded by family and friends in the UK then do not get married in Australia.
