This question is many and varied and depends on circumstances, but if you give yourselves a year for your wedding date, then you should start looking then, and have your Celebrant very much booked in around that time.  Especially the popular Celebrants as they get booked out pretty quickly. If you find you only have a short lead time, then it is important to crack on with it very quickly, as the legal requirement is that the Celebrant you choose, is required to have The Notice of Intended Marriage (the first legal document) in their hot little hands at least a month before your intended marriage.

I believe absolutely, if you can,  for a big wedding, as it “shows”, if you don’t.  If it just a very small wedding with just 2 witnesses and maybe a couple of friends, then not quite so critical.

 Absolutely, I usually write a draft ceremony and include some examples of vows, (aside from your legal vow which you both must say), as well. I usually get this pretty close to what my couples want.  If you like them, great, don’t mess with them, but if you want to be more involved and to individualise more in what you vow, then certainly, you are more than welcome to write them, and I can assist with that, if need be.

Of course, this is very much one of the key components and most important part of a Celebrant’s job.  I am quite strong on this, because if your paperwork turns out to be wrong, a Celebrant can expect an email or phone call from the Department of Births Deaths and Marriages, or/and maybe a “please explain” from the staff who run the Marriage Celebrant Program from the Federal Attorney General’s office.  And no Celebrant in their right mind wants that.  That said, Celebrants are only as good as the information they are provided with for identification of a couple.  If the couple give incorrect information, then it becomes troublesome for everyone involved.  It should be noted that all of the marriage documents are indeed legal documents, and can be tested in a court of law, if it went that far.

Yes, I provide a PA system, one so that everyone can hear me and the couple, and two, couples are welcome to use my PA system for their wedding music.  All they have to do is provide a device, (iphone, ipod) with your music loaded in files and in order, and someone who is a bit tech savvy, to drive the music on the day.  Very easy!
