FAQ

Choosing your Celebrant is very much a personal matter, it's very important that you choose someone that you feel comfortable with; do not go on price alone.

A celebrant will conduct your ceremony. They will meet with you to discuss your needs and expectations, write and facilitate a ceremony tailored to your personal requirements.

All marriage celebrants are registered Australia wide, therefore it is up to the individual celebrant if they wish to travel long distances.

It is important that the wedding is audible for all guests, therefore the celebrant must make effort to ensure that it is for all those present.

When you are working on your budget for your wedding it is important that you do not over look the fact, that your Marriage Celebrant is an integral part of the day and you should note that the time the Marriage Celebrant spends at your wedding ceremony is only "the tip of the iceberg".

Your Marriage Celebrant is a very important part of your wedding day and think of the cost in terms of making an investment, one which ensures that you engage a quality Celebrant and as such, the cost is only one aspect to be considered. Your choice of Celebrant can "make" or "break" your day.

The number of meetings is not stipulated and Celebrants differ in this regard. However, from a reasonable perspective, you would need to meet at least twice with your Celebrant unless this isn't practical e.g. if you live interstate or overseas from your celebrant. The first meeting may cover the signing of the Notice of Intended Marriage, form the provision of contact details etc.

The celebrant should be available at the venue for each marriage ceremony at least 20 minutes before the agreed commencement of each ceremony (unless, in the case of consecutive ceremonies, the ceremonies are to be held at the same venue).

If requested by the parties, the celebrant is required to conduct a marriage ceremony rehearsal; at a mutually agreed time, date and place. However, please remember that in this case, your Celebrant is entitled to charge an additional fee for this service: a fee which should be outlined in his/her "Statement of Fees" and discussed with you at your first meeting.

Caroline has been an amazing rock and supporter through this process: despite numerous (unplanned) changes to bridal party, readings and witnesses, Caroline was steadfast and gave us a day that we will remember forever with fondness, laughter and love.

Caroline is one of the celebrants offered and recommended when booking through Cedar Creek Lodges. And I am so thankful they have her working with them. She was great from start to finish and I am thankful she was there

Caroline was amazing throughout the whole process for us. Whether it be the first initial meeting at her house or communication over email, she was extremely thorough with every step which helped put our minds at ease. Come wedding time she was amazing once again taking us through a clear rehearsal the day before which allowed the actual ceremony to flow seamlessly. We can’t recommend Caroline enough as an organised and supportive celebrant.

Do any modern couples still include the opportunity to object during a wedding ceremony?

Curious about this and how it would be done well.

Caroline Jackson

In this country all couples have to sign a Statutory Declaration called "Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage" once this is signed if a false statement has been made the couple face up to 5 years in jail. This is much easier way of doing things, as nobody wants someone standing up at the ceremony stating the marriage cannot go ahead

I'm not a religious but can I have my marriage ceremony in a church?

Caroline Jackson

yes you can, you will need to meet with the clergyman/woman of the the church you wish to marry in who will go through everything with you.

Who writes the vows? Do we say them or have to repeat after the celebrant?

Caroline Jackson

There are two types of vows that are said at a marriage ceremony, the first are legal vows that are part of the marriage act and have to be said by law.

The second are personal vows, where you can say whatever you like, these are written by yourself as it has to come from the heart, and it is what you are going to promise each other for the rest of your lives. You can put in fun things, such as I promise not to complain when the footy is on, or I will not squeeze the toothpaste tube in the middle, also something romantic as well so you get a nice balance.
