OVERVIEW

My business is concerned with bringing joy and richness to the lives of the people I touch by conducting their wedding.

I have been living in the Ipswich area at Tivoli for the past 25 years and performed my first wedding in March 2006 and have a love of people and genuinely enjoy my role as a celebrant. Since that first ceremony I have continued to marry couples in the local area with sensitivity, a gentle sense of humour and great warmth.

My husband and myself are coming up for our 37th wedding anniversary this year and he assists with every ceremony. His role is to take responsibility of my sound system and for the music via CD plus oversees the set-up of the ceremony. My right hand man.

I am a member of the Professional Celebrants Association and participate in the certified practising celebrant program.

I am committed to making my couples day as relaxed and enjoyable as possible, giving them special meaningful ceremonies, so they can look back on their wedding day as a unique and memorable event.

A wedding is one of the most important events in a couple’s life. It is a reflection of the relationship between two people, and their desire to share their feelings for each other with family and friends. I want their wedding day to reflect the true feelings that they have for each other. It is essential that they feel empowered to choose every aspect of their marriage ceremony so that it truly reflects the vision that they share and continue throughout their life together.

How should I let a friend know that she's not included in my bridal party?

We haven't been close for years but she has only a few other friends and had an expectation that she would be included as a bridesmaid. She found out through one of the bridesmaids that we had already gone looking for dresses, and she said she was devastated because she wanted to come (although we had never talked about it!). We are having a super intimate wedding and only inviting our family and closest friends - everyone else seems to have picked up on it but I'm so worried that she'll be hurt when she finds out she's not invited to the wedding itself! Your advice is appreciated!

dont avoid the question and talk to her one on one and be honest. Small wedding, family only and she is not invited. If she was a true friend she would understand and if she starts a song and dance about it, then she was never really a close friend to start with. I tell all my couples - it is their day and nothing should spoil what they want. Weddings are expensive and you can't please everyone. Talk it out, you'll be glad you did.

If someone objects to a wedding... what do you do?

I know most people leave this part out... right? But if it did happen, what would you do? :)

Ros Lovell Celebrant

That question is not asked in current ceremonies these days. The wedding is your day and no-one else. You both make your decisions prior to the ceremony and anyone butting in probably shouldn't be there. have fun.

Why do you have to kiss at the wedding ceremony?

Does it actually serve a purpose or is it just a thing people do...?

Ros Lovell Celebrant

It is entirely up to you, but if neither of you are confortable kissing in front of family and friends - its your day and your way. two people are in love they just want to celebrate it. I have had a couple just give the thumbs up - its optional. Have fun and do what you want to do. cheers
