If a Couple Doesn't Kiss at Their Wedding, What Else Can They Do?

I am extremely phobic of being touched, but at weddings the couple always kisses. Is it a requirement, or are there different things I can do? If so, what?

You can do anything you like.

I have had couples because of religious reasons who have not kissed. One on occassion the groom kissed her forehead other times nothing.

I have had couple high five.

You could take the moment away with a symbol or ritual such as a dove release to mark the moment, or re-direct the attention to something else such as someone singing a special dedicated song.

You are only limited by your imagination, the celebrant can easily take that moment to something else.

How long would I require a celebrant for?

Generally, when couples book a celebrant how long do they book them for?

The celebrant is booked for the duration of the ceremony, they know how long is required as the ceremony details are all agreed before. I always arrive at least an hour before as I like to be set up and ready before guests arrive and generally wait until guests have moved away for group photos before packing up. The ceremony itself can be anything from 10 mins to an hour long however I find that 15 to 20 mins is the norm.

If you have any concerns ask your celebrant if they have other bookings immediately after or before yours, their estimated arrival time and how quickly they leave after the ceremony is finished. There could be a few variations.

What are your thoughts on using the same celebrant that a friend used? Have you experienced this before?

Of course! if you like them why not? If they are recommended and you have seen them perform you know the quality that you will get on your special day. If you didn't see the ceremony, have a meeting before booking, if you connect, like their personalities and feel comfortable then all should be good.

Every ceremony I do is written individually for each couple to suit their personalities and style and I always make sure that I dress completely different for each one.
