My life has been rich and exciting through a career in the restaurant and festival/event industry, and more so through the fabulous people I have worked with in planning and presenting their wedding ceremony. In a commitment ceremony is the celebrant allowed to say husband and wife?

No, because a commitment ceremony is not a legal marriage ceremony - within a commitment ceremony you are declared 'to be partners for life', not husband and wife. But within a legal ceremony you can be declared 'as partners for life".

Through 25 years as a Marriage Celebrant and 1,000 weddings, this has never been asked or occured. So I would say literally NIL.
However, within various Religious Ceremonies I understand there is still The Posting of the Bands three weeks prior to a marriage, that gives anyone the opportunity to object to the marriage.
