Real Wedding - Tristina  & Grant

Wedding Date:  2/4/2012
Location:  Canberra Boat House - Canberra

HOW WE MET :

Grant and I attended the same school/college, we were not really aware of the other during our school years. It wasn’t until we both began working at Bunnings that our paths crossed and friendship began. We have now been together for 6yrs and loving every moment we are together.

THE PROPOSAL:

Grant took me to Sydney for my birthday which was the weekend before. We went the the Zoo for the day which ended up being the hottest day in Sydney for 40yrs getting to 45 degrees! It was too hot to go out so we stayed at the hotel for dinner and when we went back to our room Grant had red rose petals and candles path to a box on the table, at first I was like yay a Pandora charm so I was very shocked and excited when it was an engagement ring.

THE WEDDING DRESS:

My dress was a designer gown by DaVinci - it was a fluke when I found the dress I went to the shop to try on a dress that I found on eBay to see if it fit so I could buy the one off eBay. But luckily the designer was showing her 2012 range and I found the perfect gown for a great price. I was really excited that the dress I tried on was the original and was modeled in the NY fashion show and the fact that we met the designer. The dress was a strapless ballgown with a sweetheart front.

ACCESSORIES:

I didn´t want to take away from the pearls and sparkle on my dress and wore some nice dangle earings and matching bracelet.

THE GROOM'S ATTIRE:

The men wore charcoal suits with dusty pink ties - we ended up hiring the suits which came to $150 each as the boys all had enough suits and wanted to hirer them.

THE BRIDESMAIDS:

Bridesmaids wore a dusty pink spaghetti strap long dress - accessories they all had a matching hair facinator and pearl earings and bracelets.

THE THEME:

Our wedding theme was a warm elegance the colours being dusty pink, silver and black.

FLOWERS:

Bridesmaids flowers we used fake roses and had real leaves wrapped around. My flowers where fresh roses pink and white with an orchard matching the bridesmaids.

THE CEREMONY & RECEPTION DECOR:

With alot of help from mum we hand made our table decorations which was a glass fish bowl with black rocks then a flower arrangment place in the centre then 4candles around which we hand made, We hand made the placements cards, and had loveheart chocolates on the tables.

THE TRANSPORT :

Bridal party went in a black streched hummer in 2trips as we had a big bridal party.

BOMBONIERE:

Our bomboniere where alternate black glass coasters and black love-heart wine stoppers, which we got for a bargain off eBay for $2each!! Also had personalised love-heart chocolates.

THE WEDDING CAKE:

We where very lucky to have my husband´s mother make our cake - we had a 4 teared cake with the 2 bottom layers choc mudcake and the 2 top layers fruit cake.

ENTERTAINMENT:

We had a 3-piece band for the night which was such great entertainment as it got everyone up on the dance floor.

THE HONEYMOON:

We luckily went to Fiji Tokoriki Island resort - although it rained the majority of the time we still went snorkeling and both our first Scuba dive!!! It was amazing, people and food where all amazing we cant wait to go back.

SPECIAL MOMENTS:

Our favourite moment was standing back at the reception and taking it all in for a moment that all our hard work and dedication had paid off and that everyone looked like they where having a great time and enjoying the day. We tried to stay together as much as we could throughout the day and had such a wonderful time.

TIPS:

EBAY!!!! was our best friend.. We hand made pretty much everything it took months of preparing but was well worth it when everyone loved them and saving plenty of money - and the time I spent with my mum organising and preparing was so special and bought us closer than ever. Don´t let the little things worry you as no one will notice but you. Enjoy the day it goes very fast.

Pretty as a picture: dressing children for your big day

The art of dressing children for a wedding

When it comes to dressing younger members of your bridal party, gone are the days of ring bearers tripping down aisles in ill-fitting suits and flowergirls dressed in frocks designed for fuller-figured and significantly older bridesmaids. This year will see a return to “age appropriate” clothing (that actually fits) for... Read More
