Real Wedding - Jasmin  & Richard

Wedding Date:  5/29/2010
Location:  Sandy Bay

HOW WE MET :

We met online in 2001. We met in person in 2005, he came to Melbourne with his parents, and we met up.

THE PROPOSAL:

I moved to Tasmania to be with him, and he took me out to Wrest Point for breakfast several months after I moved down to Tasmania. He proposed over breakfast.

THE WEDDING DRESS:

The wedding dress was a floor length, burnt umber/gold dress with chiffon bell sleeves. It had a lace up backing. The wedding dress belonged to my foster mother, all that needed to be adjusted was the back, the zip was taken out and a beautiful lace-up put in.

ACCESSORIES:

My shoes were gold sandals.

THE GROOM'S ATTIRE:

Groom´s attire was bought at Glasser and Parker. A simple black tux, a nice gold tie was found at an op shop.

THE BRIDESMAIDS:

Bridesmaids dresses were found on Ebay, ended up costing $12 each. The dresses were spaghetti strap navy blue dresses with intricate patterns, falling just below the knee. To top up the outfit I found gold pressed silk wraps at Salamanca Market in Hobart.

THE THEME:

The wedding didn´t really have a theme, though everything was based around a blue and gold theme.

FLOWERS:

The brides flowers were fake flowers, long stemmed purple and blue flowers. Bridesmaids didn´t have any flowers, and the flowergirls had long stemmed fake roses with a piece of blue cloth wrapping the bottom of the stems.

THE CEREMONY & RECEPTION DECOR:

Ceremony was at the Hobart Town Hall, so the room spoke for itself. The reception had white table cloths. Not much went in to decorations.

THE TRANSPORT :

My father and I were driven in my father-in-law´s Jag, the rest of the bridal party was driven by my uncle in my car. The groom was driven to the Town Hall by his groomsmen, and then we were driven to the reception in the Jag by my father-in-law.

BOMBONIERE:

The bomboniere were made up with small noodle boxes and we bought 2 boxes of chocolates from the Cadbury´s factory.

THE WEDDING CAKE:

The cake was made by a close friend.

ENTERTAINMENT:

Music provided by a laptop and USB stick with music added to it. A close friend manned the laptop.

THE HONEYMOON:

Our first night was at a motel not far from the reception venue. We spent the second night at Wrest Point, and relaxed. Then we went to Sydney for a week.

SPECIAL MOMENTS:

Spending time with friends and family before the wedding. Everyone was nervous, but me. Looking at my husband as I walked down the aisle. Watching him as we said the vows, laughing together.

TIPS:

Ebay is the way to go! Ask around to friends and family and have a look at the markets. They´re the best places. Do your own thing as much as you can. And, don´t go for first options. The second or third may be cheaper and looks fantastic!
