Hi everyone,
I've noticed that there are a lot of people looking for information or reviews on suppliers of dresses from eBay sellers, companies based in China or local online suppliers - there are lots of separate threads on this so I thought it would be helpful to have one thread where everyone can ask questions, post their reviews and post some pictures of their dresses.

Hi,
I have looked at gowns online but am worried to purchase. I read reviews, some are fantastic but then there will also be bad reviews for the same.
Cause I have a budget I can't afford to spend $300-$400 and not get my gown, or get a gown that I don't like.
I am trying to go down the path of hiring. So far I have only seen Beautiful Gowns to Share....
anymore ideas????

www.catchthebouquet.comBella is helpful and in tassie - but she buys out of china. She has some work herself too i think. Get the peace of mind buying from a business with an ABN covered under Australian Laws and the benefit of the budget price. I priced up Milly bridal, landy bridal and duosheng and her prices were comparable. Dress is of excellent quality but sorry no pics yet, the ones i took were terrible so i will take some when i get my fitting done. For those local to me (near Frankston, Vic) Please feel free to coem and take a look if you like.

Do not buy from China if you can avoid it. In fact, I'd say a stronger one: avoid at all cost. They may sound cheap, but the quality and material is also cheap. Definitely not worth it for wedding dress, bm dresses or evening dresses. Maybe ok for flower girls dresses. I tried 3 different supplier (2 from ebay, 1 duosheng) and all the dresses comes out disappointing. Especially for duosheng future customer: 1. They asked you to pay from paypal with 'personal payment' which is a trick so that you cannot have the paypal buyer protection. Paypal buyer protection will let you ask for refund. 2. They claim to offer refund, but when you said that you want refund, they kept delaying you by not answering emails Dissapearing, saying that the person no longer works there and take 3 more weeks to come back to say "we cannot give refund, you can give the dress to your friend" Even if the mistake is theirs: not following measurement / changing models (mine suppose to be Aline, but they decided to change to mermaid style, so tight i cannot even bend down or sit without tearing the dress) I have rarely give bad reviews, but I hate to see other girls disappointed with their dress! Please do NOT buy from duosheng. Australia has plenty of dressmaker with a valid ABN

Didounette, I'm sorry you have had such a bad experience, but I had a great experience. i really did my research before I purchased and because my dress was so cheap it was worth the risk. The risk paid off. my dress fitted me perfectly and the dress was gorgeous (i thought so anyway) I bought mine from DH Gate, seller Earlybird_01. DH Gate provide a lot of sellers on their sites, some with really good guarentee's and some with not many. so it pays to really research My seller, had 100% feedback, the dress was 95% a match to the picture (the picture had a lace up back, my dress came with a zip, they offered to fix my dress at their cost, but decided i would stick with the zip) but the quality was great. Also, my seller wasn't able to get the funds until I provided feedback to say i was satisfied. I made the payment via Paypal and it is into an account until 100% satisfaction of the sale was made. I know a lot of girls who have bought their dresses via china, some good experiences some bad. all i can say is research research research...

My SIL ordered hers from thecustomdresses. Hers arrived and fitted like a glove so she ordered her bridesmaids ones from there too, again perfect. Excellent customer service. Mine arrived from the same outfit yesterday, i can't take any pics yet, as it doesn't fit me. I deliberately ordered smaller as I've got 7 months to slim into it! I must say I'm glad I had read online somewhere that they come inside out, folded into a tiny parcel in a plastic wrapper - or i might have been disappointed, however it only took 2 days to ship from HK. 2 days!!! I ordered smaller and early as i wanted time to get a "real" dress if the worst case scenario presented itself. Anyway at the moment it's hanging at Mums, waiting for the million creases from folding to drop out and me to drop a dress size! I will keep you posted....
PS, very good match to original design and the fabric is a good white taffeta. I've heard of some of them coming a bit yellow, but no worries on that front.

I went through Catch the Bouquet. Bella had the cheapest prices out off all the companies I looked at (less than $400 including postage, while Duosheng was nearly $500 and another Australian company was nearly $700). I went with Bella because when I emailed her with what I wanted, she emailed back with a very detailed response about how the dress is made, what my dress would look like, the time it would take etc. The fact she has an ABN and is based in Tasmania sealed the deal for me, because I knew if something went wrong, I was covered by consumer laws. Thankfully nothing did. I also ordered my veil from her, and when it didn't arrive after a couple of weeks, I emailed her and she sent out a new one, no questions asked. I was very happy with the service and would recommend her to anyone! I was originally concerned about the beading as that was my favourite aspect of the original dress, but couldn't warrant spending $2700 on it. But I love the beading on mine. The colour is champagne (looks pinker in the picture than it actually is). I wish I could be a white/ivory bride, but the colour looks horrid on me, so the champagne looks good. Original Dress: Mine: Inside the bodice:
