Hello ladies!

My name is Erin and I've been contemplating starting my s&t for a while, and I finally feel like I have enough planned to share! My FH's name is Ben, and we are getting married on March 3rd next year, which is just over 8 months away (EEK!).

Our Story

FH and I met on the night of Black Saturday, February 7, 2009, at a local nightclub. We clicked straight away, but I was too shy to ask for his number, and he forgot to ask for mine! He went out the next week hoping to see me and get my number, which he did and we've been together ever since. Currently I'm 26 and FH's 27, and we live together. He works in a warehouse, and I am in my last year of my Masters degree in Social Work.

The Proposal

FH and I had talked about marriage last year, and I knew that he would ask when he was ready. We were at a friend's wedding last December when I caught the bouquet. What I didn't know is that FH had bought my e-ring 4 days earlier, and he took this as a sign that it was meant to be. Yet he still made me wait!
We went for a holiday in February to Langkawi and Penang in Malaysia, which also coincided with our 2 year anniversary. I had hopes that he would propose, but I didn't want to get my heart set on a proposal in case I was disappointed.
On our anniversary we took a chair lift ride to the top of one of Langkawi's tallest mountains and were enjoying the amazing views when FH started saying all this really sweet stuff, and then he pulled out the most amazing ring. I think I might have screamed a little, and I know that I grabbed the ring and put it straight on. I don't think that the smile came off my face after that!
Of everyone, my mum had the best reaction. We dropped in to her work to see her on the way home from the airport, and she was excited to see us, hugging us and asking us about our trip. I held out my hand showing the ring, and she started screaming, before dragging me into her work and yelling out to the ladies she works with: "We're engaged!"

The Ceremony Venue

I feel like I have researched every wedding venue in Melbourne, and I am very happy with our choice.
Our ceremony is going to be held at the Melbourne Town Hall, in the Portico Balcony overlooking Swanston St.

The Reception Venue

And my favourite choice of all, our reception is going to be at the Melbourne Aquarium, in the Fish Bowl. Here's some pics:





We are only having about 65 guests, and so we will be able to fit a band and dancefloor in the Fish Bowl. Due to sound restrictions, drums aren't allowed, but we should be able to find a good acoustic band.

Everything looks totally fabulous. The rings is stunning, and i adore that dress. I'm sure there is another bride on here having her ceremony at the fish bowl too. Its a gorgeous venue. And photos on the entrance to the town hall will look like royalty!!

Loving you venue's. OMG the Aquarium will be so amazing. that is one of the coolest venues I think I've ever seen!! SO cool!!

How awesome is it! I can’t wait for our wedding there!

But we preferred to have the dance floor on the upstairs area! I like to have LOUD music to dance too and this way the oldies can stay in the bowl listening to the guy we have hired on acoustic

I have white organza fabric to hang to cover all the walls upstairs, We will be going there soon to have a trial run (it’s my brothers job on the wedding day to set it up so thought I better see how he does it) I will be posting some photos on my S&T of the fabric set up!! If you change your mind and use that area I’m happy to sell the fabric to you.....

OMG I so should, it would be awesome to see the fish bowl all set up for your wedding! I wanted to have the wedding all in one room, because I didnt want to be split between the two areas all night.

We booked both our photographer and our celebrant this week which is exciting! They are both really lovely. At the ceremony we are going to have a hand fasting ritual and a ring warming ritual, because we quite like both of these.

Theme

We're planning to have a theme of bright colours for our wedding. I have four bridesmaids (I didn't want to have that many but I couldn't choose between them). My bridesmaids will be wearing black dresses, each of different design that they will choose themselves. Each will then have a different coloured bouquet and shoes, like this:



My BM bouquets will be red, orange, pink and purple, and this will match the ties of the groomsmen, (of which there are 2 or 3, FH hasn't decided yet). So we will have an uneven bridal party, but that doesn't bother me as long as we have the people we love with us on the day.

My bouquet will be a mixture of all the colours, something like this:

At the reception each table will have a different colour, and I will most likely use the bridesmaid bouquets in vases. I also want to use coloured jellybeans on the tables.
