    Engagement Party card/guest book table

Postby Skittles on Sun Jul 29, 2012 11:52 pm

Hey ladies. So we're planning our engagement party.. and I'm trying to think how to arrange the table..

    We will have:

    - Cake
    - Guest Book
    - "LOVE" wooden word
    - Something to put cards, like a pretty box
    - Presents

I'm not sure how to set it up? Or if it will all fit? My sisters engagement party, pressies took up 1 whole table. I'm not expecting gifts, but I know people will give them.. so just trying to think where to put stuff. Plus, does the cake stay out or do they usually put it in a fridge? Do you display it? I don't think scatters are allowed, so trying to think of how to pretty the table up.. without making it look all weddingy if you know what I mean?

I've googed pictures but can't seem to find anything. Anyone else had much more luck at this? Or got piccys of theirs?

    :flwr: TIA

    Hi Skiddles!

I think it would depend on what you plan on doing for your eparty and where you are having it? If you are having it in hire room/restaurant etc there may be size restrictions so you might need to put it all on one table?

Otherwise I would have a cake on a separate table to avoid people bumping into it or damaging it?

    :agree:

I would have one table for presents/card box, one for the cake and I would probably assign a friend/family member to walk around with the guestbook rather than have it on a table but that is just me.

In regards to decoration - where are you having it? Most engagement parties I have been to have just had helium balloons and fairy lights in someone's backyard.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies :)

We've hired a function centre room out. :) Was going to have it in a backyard but didnt have a big enough backyard for 144 guests! Plus the function centre did free room hire, and no min spend. So worked out well. :groove: Size wise, plenty of room. We have 100 adult guests, 44 children guests, and the room can hold 200 guests so no problem with the size!

I think the separate table for the cake sounds like a good idea :) :flwr:

Well in that case I think coloured table cloths with helium balloons on each table would be plenty enough decoration. FBIL & FSIL did this - they had black table cloths with silver & purple balloons. They also had a slideshow of pics on a big screen and a banner that had CONGRATULATIONS name & name hanging up.

yep that's what we plan on doing :)

black table clothes with green&silver helium balloons in the middle.
I'm most likely going to put the cake on a separate table but trying to think how to do the other stuff.

I'm thinking I'll have a table and put the guest book in the middle with our LOVE wooden word to the left of the book. And put some little box thing behind the book for the cards. But I am wondering if that table will look too bare IYKWIM? I was thinking of getting FH & my initials EG: T&W so that the book is in the middle, LOVE to the left side, and our inititals to the right. Or maybe a nice pretty frame with a picture of us instead of the initials. Then maybe a empty table near that table, for guests to put pressies as I've been told by a few guests already they are getting us gifts. But at the same time, I don't wanna have a empty table there for guests to think we're selfish and expecting gifts when we're not.. it's just, if guests do bring pressies which a few have said they will.. it will be annoying trying to find somewhere to put them.

It's so confusing.. :spin: Just don't want the guest book/card/gift table to look bare.. or over the top like a wedding. Hmm.

(We're having a photo slide too)
