Are there people you can hire to set up the reception? My reception venue supplies and set up the basic tables and their own decor, but what about all the decoration things that I buy. Who oversees and does the setup of the reception room???

I think firstly you should check with your reception venue about the things you want set up .. you may well find that they'll do it for you for free (ours does) or for a small fee
Then you don't have to worry about co-ordinating different people for the day .. you can drop all your stuff at the venue the day before (or whenever they need it) and relax

If they refuse to do it for you then you can google reception decorator or wedding decorator in your area and go from there

It comes down to what your venue will do for you. We got a Venue Decorator as we had ours at a fairly old school golf club, so needed to get someone in to dress the room.

I emailed the venue wedding director and they said they will place table numbers, menus, bonboniere, and place cards. This is all. They said anything else should be set up but the suppliers on the day, but I want to buys stuff before hand, things that don't have a 'supplier'. And we can't set up ourselves as we only have access to the room for about an hour before the reception which is when we will be having photos.
For example I was going to buy the chair sashes from over seas because they are heaps cheaper than hiring them, but now I've decided to hire because they will set them up. What what about all the cute little things that I buy in the lead up, like those white wooden words and table overlays etc?

We are having our reception at a restaurant and originally we were going to ask my FSIL's (there is 3 of them) to set up for us but the restaurant coordinator has said they will happily do it for us.

If your venue has already told you what they will place then maybe you will have to get family members to go in during that hour and do it.

can you get a family friend or family member to set those other little things up?? or your mum or someone? we did that with our unity candles etc from the ceremony and guest books..my parents did it for me and the lady who done room and table decorations done the rest!:)

Where is the reception ? First of all you need to decide what kind of style you need.
