    Kind-of-Destination-Wedding Checklist

Postby PerthGirl on Wed Jul 04, 2012 2:39 pm

    Hi ladies!

FH and I have just decided that we will get married in Cervantes/ The Pinnacles, we are from Perth so it's a 2hour trip north into a very small coastal town.

I'm putting together a checklist of things that might cause problems along the way, can you add anything to it?

So far I have these as things to consider:

1.Cost of entry/ bus tour for guests into Pinnacles
    2.Cost of travel for:
    a. Photographer
    b. DJ
    c. Makeup/ hair
    d. Celebrant
3.Cake maker in area, could restaurant do it?
4.Best time of year to go
5.Time of day for ceremony for best light
    6.Babysitter for small kids
7.Florist in area, or safely transporting flowers from Perth.
8.Can the Pinnacles be opened at special times on request?

I'm trying to think of things that the small town might not have (like a bakery, beauty salon, celebrant) so I'll either have to get someone from Perth, or try to find one in a nearby area/ get reccommendations from the venue.

Also any unexpected costs we may come up with by having a semi-destination wedding.

    Thanks!

Bonbonierre for your guests? You might not want to get say chocolates if they are going to be in a car for a few hours on a potentially hot day?

Thanks, I've already decided that since everyone will need accomm the bonbonierre will be mini soaps. Heh.

That or those gross almond things, I'm marrying an italian and he's pretty much insisting on them.

Alternative accommodation available for guests with special needs or special budgets? ;)

Yes, there's a caravan park in the town for the budget-conscious, thank you for the idea.

Is there a limitation on accommodation? if you are in peak tourist season.. they might book out early?

Perhaps give guests the heads up in you Save the Dates?

Also, (not so much a problem, but a suggestion) if there is a primary accomodation spot, you could email them and ask for a discounted rate for guest booking under your wedding name??

We're getting married in April so I don't think it will be too busy, and we're def not going to get married over school holidays or anything. Luckily one of the potential reception venues is attached to both a 'resort' and a 'motel' (2 diff accomm but owned by the same people, I think they might be across the road from each other) so people already have a cheaper option. If they want to go cheaper they can go to the caravan park ;)
But yeah we'll definitely look into organising a group discount for people.

I will definitely have to send out STDs I think, I can also see myself having to foot the bill for accomm for a few friends if they honestly can't afford it but I want them there. Saying that though, I expect no presents as people will have to pay for accomm.
