    Thailand Wedding

Postby littletraveller on Wed Mar 31, 2010 6:59 pm

Well h2b and I are now, for various reasons, looking at having a destination wedding in Thailand!

I am currently getting quotes from a few places, including Creative Events Asia, 2 Phuket resorts (Merlin Beach Resort and Katathani) and flight centre here for the accomodation etc.

Would love to hear from anyone who got married in Thailand or has been to a wedding in Thailand?

Aswell as any other runaway brides who would like to chat too!!!

    Hi littletraveller,

I'm in Brisbane too planning our wedding in Fiji. I don't have any recs for Thailand but in our early stages of planning we were looking at Thailand for our honeymoon. We did look at Rocky's Resort at Koh Samui...stunning!!!

I think its great that your shopping around for quotes and just make sure that the travel agent you do decide on you are comfortable with. Also make sure you do take out travel insurance. Another thing to bear in mind which the travel agent or wedding co-ordinator should advise is the legal documentation required. If in doubt you can search online for your local govt Births, Deaths and Marriages website for docs required if marrying overseas.

    Hey everyone!

I am planning my wedding in Thailand next February too. Frankly speaking 've got no idea what it is right to start with. Last 3 days I spent searching for an agency or a resort, but I am not sure how to choose the right one :?: Maybe you could give me some tips?
And what is your aprox. budget?

Hey I sent you an email with some details of who I used for my wedding in Phuket. My budget for holiday and wedding was $10k - I did come under that even with spending money... just to give you an idea.

we did not pay for any of our guests flights or accom.... so was just our flights, accom the wedding and reception.

My daughter was married at Le Meridien resort in Phuket. It was great. The guests arrived about a week early and a few of us stayed about a week after. Plenty to do, good food and a great layout.

2 days before we had a private banquet down around the pools, then on the day of the wedding there was a parade, all the Thai traditional stuff and we split the ceremony between a traditional ceremony in English and a blessing by 5 monks.

The next day they went into town and signed the official paperwork.

As guests we had a great time. I noticed the couple had some to-do's with the wedding organizer. Usually between attitudes of "We want it this way" from the bride and groom and "I'll be alright on the day" from the staff.

All in all a great time was had by all.

    Hi everyone!

It has been a little while since I checked in here! Great to see I have some other o/s brides to chat to!

How is everyones planning coming along??

We have booked our wedding for the Katathani resort at Kata Beach, Phuket for 23 March 2011. Im soooo excited! Ive ordered our invitations and rsvp cards and the rsvp cards arrived today so just waiting on the invites now so I can send them out. We have about 40 on our guest list but I think maybe around 15-20 will actually attend.

We ended up booking directly through the resort rather than through a coordinator which has been fine so far.

Im hoping the violence in Bangkok doesnt spread to the islands!

Interested to hear how you are all going with your planning? :)
