In what will be the biggest week of his cricketing career, New Zealand hero Grant Elliott will also face great sadness: In order to play in this weekend's Cricket World Cup, he must miss his sister's wedding.
After a stellar performance in the New Zealand vs South Africa World Cup semi-final, one that saw the Kiwis secure their first spot in a Cricket World Cup final, Elliott must be in Melbourne on Sunday (March 29) for the big match at the MCG.
Unfortunately, his sister is marrying in New Zealand on Friday evening (March 27).
"My sister has a wedding on Friday and unfortunately I'll miss her wedding," Elliott told NineMSN.
"Can you put it in the press that I'm sorry? I saw her earlier. She was pretty happy for me. I'm going to have to give her a special gift."
We reckon a World Cup win might do the trick, Grant!
