Videography can take many different styles and forms such as:

Journalistic - Where the Videographer captures the events of the day as they happen, and usually edit them in a linear fashion. This style is one of the most common of wedding videography as it shows the events and story of the wedding day in chronological order.

Cinematic - This style emphasizes emotion and drama of the day, to create a movie like experience where the bride and groom are the stars. The camera movement will often be enhanced by the use of slow motion, montages, music and even the videographer(s) setting up shots and directing the bride and groom to achieve certain key moments. Edits usually are colour graded and enhanced to give a film like feel. Cinematic Videos tend to last from 30 to 90 minutes long.

Short Form - One of the most popular styles of recent years. This highly edited version of wedding videography usually last anywhere from 2 to 50 minutes long and lends itself to the journalistic and cinematic styles for editing. There usually isn't time to include the ceremony and speeches in full, unlike the journalistic style.

Traditional - This videography style is becoming less popular over time due to the length of the videos edited. This style is the kind of video you would expect if you were to ask a friend to film your wedding for you, although with much better camerawork. Filmed from start to finish with minimal editing, these videos and edits tend to last often from 2 to 3 hours. If you are after a more modern approach to style. Perhaps choose one of the other options as this style is not offered by a lot of videographers anymore. Those who do, will charge extra for the time taken to provide the extra edited materials.

Marryoke - This style is popular and hilarious. This is where the couple, the wedding party, or even anyone attending the wedding, band together to create a video of the day to a popular or appropriate song, filmed throughout the day, then edited into a music video. This style however can be tedious and take multiple tries to film across the day. It also involves by far the most direction and input from the videographer(s) so communication is a must. If you're looking to film the day as it happened. Perhaps this isn't the style for you.
