Fitzroy Island Resort features several stunning ceremony areas including Welcome Bay Beach, our lush tropical resort garden, or for something a little more intimate – one of Queensland’s most photographed beaches, Nudey Beach. Fitzroy Island is a quick 45 minutes by boat from Cairns.

Hi we're the Fitzroy Island Events Team. Our purpose is to make your dream event possible starting with the ideal ceremony or reception venue, of which Fitzroy Island has plenty! Our dedicated wedding coordinators have years of experience in the weddings and special events industry and a genuine desire to create memorable experiences for you and your guests.     Absolutely amazing venue! Beautiful location with amazing staff! Nothing was too hard for the lovely staff and they made the whole wedding easy to plan and attend! On the day all the staff were amazing and had everything planned and organised ready to go for us.

    It was an elopement so we just paid $200 to have the wedding there and a further $160 for music to be played. Beautiful location and backdrop for photos 😊

    what are the pros and cons of having a paid ceremony venue vs a public garden

    Thank you for your question, in relation to your questions a paid ceremony venue will allow you wedding to be exclusive and staffed for any inconveniance that may occur. 

    Pros,

    • Exclusive use of an area -No Double bookings
    • Staffed
    • Bar - Pre & Post ceremonial Drinks 
    • Suppliers/Vendors can setup in a timely manner
    • Back up areas for wet weather

    Cons,

    • Some times Expensive
    • Some Venues you may not get the date you want
    • Some Venues may be remote to get to and Suppliers and Vendors will on Charge theses costs

    If you go the other direction a public garden for example you may run the risk of other people using  the allocated spot you wanted to get married in and you have no legal rights to exclusively use a public area.

    Pros,

    • Convenient location with minimal setup required
    • Convenient locations for couples on a budget
    • Generally Family Friendly
    • Generally centralized to all parties

    Cons,

    • Busy & Noisy
    • Open to the general public
    • Permits to be required for some parks
    • limited to setups type (marquees, arbours)
