How do you deal with significantly less RSVPs than expected?

I have just booked into a venue where we pay a minimum amount for 120 people, however, going over the guest list again I am feeling pessimistic and concerned we will get a lot of no's from out of state guests. Should I go back to the venue to see if it's possible to negotiate paying for a lower minimum, or stick it out?

Dear Laura, go to your venue and ask what the min spend includes and perhap you could get them to include something that you may have had to pay for like your wedding favors. Or if they say no then depending on the amount perhaps up grade your food or beverage package. On the other hand as it so long away depending on the amount you have paid it may be worth looking for another venue. Hope this has helped Sue Baxby Riverdeck Restaurant Noosa

Hi LT

I presume that this is the venue you really want for your wedding, and also that you had budgeted to have all 120 people turn up.  I would personally contact all those who hadn't RSVPd - or if you have a planner get them to do that on your behalf - and then have a discussion with your venue regarding your situation.  Most venues have those minimum numbers in order to cover their costs for the night.  Perhaps they would consider some other options.  I always find that speaking with all suppliers regularly keeps them in the loop and many a problem gets solved that way.

All the best and I'm sure your day will be magical and wonderful

Hi Laura!!! I would suggest perhaps a gentle sms / email reminder to these people, just to confirm their attendance. Secondly, I would have a chat to the venue, and le tthem know what you're situation is, and most venues will be willing to assist you in some way! Perhaps, may be worth looking for a different venue even! x

does your venue have a room minimum ? Do your rsvps cover that amount ? Don't worry to much think of the day as a more close and personal event at the end of the day, who wants to be there will make the effort :)

As long as our minimum number requirements are met we are happy to accept lower RSVPs than expected. We adjust the payment plan/invoice accordingly.
