In 2006, Chris, a photojournalist from the UK set out on a voyage of self-discovery and to capture the beauty of the world. He travelled from Europe to South America, on to New Zealand and into Australia. He was only supposed to be there for a few weeks but soon he was hooked. A year later he returned to the UK to start his photography business, yet all the while he couldn’t shake the idea that he had to get back to the land down under!!

In 2009 he made his return, and almost straight away he met a girl called Chantelle. This girl was a whirlwind, a buzz of activity, ideas and inspiration. She was working as an Event Planner putting together parties. She was difficult and stubborn, oh yes, but she was a romantic with a love for weddings and dreaming of a beautiful life.

The two of them spent hours sitting under an oak tree full of fairy lights, and that is where underatreehouse began.
