Can I ask guests to not wear a specific colour?

I don't agree with black at weddings.. but am I crossing the line?

Dress code definately. Sometimes brides will restrict the colour of attire for mother of the bride /groom according to what colour bridesmaid dresses are. Say your bridesmaid are wearing navy blue then another shade of blue is fine for other guest to wear.
