Riverside Gowns creates beautiful and affordable custom made bridal, debutante and formal wear. River, the owner of Riverside Gowns, will work one on one with you to design a gown that is perfect for your measurements and body type. This ensures that the gown will fit in all the right places and accentuate your figure. River can create glamorous couture pieces from photographs and drawings that reflect your personality and style. If you bring in an image of the front of a dress, River can design the back of the dress. If you have multiple ideas that you would like to combine into one gown, we can make a design that will work.

At Riverside Gowns, we don’t just focus on Bridal Wear. We custom make Debutante Gowns, Formal Wear, Bridesmaid Dresses, Flower Girl Dresses, Mother of the Bride and more! We have a complementary alterations service for all custom ordered gowns.

Riverside Gowns offers a Bridal Package for all the dresses in the Bridal Party. We can custom design the Wedding Gown, Bridesmaid Dresses, Flower Girl Dresses and Mother of the Bride. This service helps create a stress free environment for brides and allows everything to be looked after in one convenient location, which means no running around trying to find something suitable for all your bridesmaids!

River altered my wedding dress. After buy it I ended up losing too much weight and was almost a full two dress sizes smaller than my lace and intricate dress. She was able to alter everything from sleeves to length to shape. I cannot recommend her enough and after every other alterer gave me quotes of over the $1000 mark she was the only one who really gave me an amazing deal, especially considering the work she put in. River was fantastic! She patiently went through the design with me and the bridesmaids and provided valuable comments. She was well organised and kept everything on track despite having less than 6 months to finish the dresses. Everybody was very impressed with the dresses. Her service and the quality of her work is exceptional and was great value for money.

She did a good job with my dress, however it wasn't exactly what I wanted in the end. It was a nice job overall. She needs a wider sample size range as all the dresses are a size 8.

How far off from the wedding date should I start looking for dresses?

I have no idea when to start looking for my dream dress. I'm someone who is well organised and ideally I'm trying to have everything for the big day sorted 12 - 8 months prior to the date however I'm stuck on when to start looking for my dress. I'm worried that if I leave it too close to the date then I'll stress out and rush the process and then on the other hand I'm worried I pick too early and want to change the dress.!! I might add that I also hate shopping and can never decide on things from clothes to dinner ha! Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm very picky when it comes to styling and have a certain vision in mind for my wedding dress. I was wondering how much it would cost roughly to have a dress custom made to my vision? Also if you could point me in the right direction that would be great! :)

Having a unique vision for your wedding gown is such a beautiful thing! Providing brides with unique, custom-made wedding gowns is our entire business philosophy. There are a few different interpretations of custom-made, and ours is that it's YOUR design from initial concept to finished product. We work with you and hand sketch your design so you can see it come to life from the start.
To answer your question about price, our custom-made gowns start from $1,200. Our prices include design, material, labour and two fitting and alteration sessions (prices vary depending on design and the material required). Our dressmaker has fittings down to such a fine art that two sessions is usually all our customers require. We're just about to post a compilation of gowns we designed in 2016 on Facebook, so you can find us and see for yourself that they're perfectly fitted for each bride. We also won first prize in the Brides Choice Awards for Bridal Couture in 2016.
We're located about an hour's drive from Sunbury, in Warrandyte, VIC. It's a beautiful location and we offer plenty of private parking.
If you'd like to send us some images that have inspired you, we can provide a more accurate quote. We can also provide package deals if you're considering custom-made bridesmaid gowns.

Weight loss and wedding dresses.

I've been told I need to start looking for my wedding dress, however I'd planned on losing a significant amount of weight by the wedding (9 months away) So my question is, do I look now or wait and how long can I leave it? Thanks

Hi Tracy,

Yes, start looking now! We have brides come to us for custom-made gowns when they can't find anything they like off the rack, and we usually start 6 months in advance. If you do find something, fantastic! You can then chat to an alterations specialist and make sure major weight loss won't affect the design of the dress (or add too much additional cost to alter). If you don't find an off-the-rack gown you like, you'll still have time to look into getting one custom-made. We wish you all the best!
