Do I cut the top tier or bottom tier of my wedding cake?

Hi, I have two questions in one. First of all, when cutting the cake, are we supposed to cut the top tier or the bottom tier? Secondly, which leg should the garter go on?

this depends on the structure of the cake, if the tiers are directly on top or if they have pillars and gaps, some brides choose to have multiple flavoured layers. So a lot to consider. Some people like to be traditional and save the top tier by freezing it and saving it for their 1 year anniversary . If your not doing that start from the top. Think about if your taking left overs home or giving them away. Think about how many guest will be their and if they will all eat cake to decide on the size
