About

For about 25 years I have been presenting the weather with Channel 10. I also host numerous events around town. As Ambassador of the Lost Dogs Home, and a dog owner/lover, Australia Day Ambassador and Variety Club Ambassador I'm always hosting community events. Weekends are also spent with my wife and kids (lots of sport) and catching up with friends, as well as marrying couples. I also love to travel, and do so early January & early July.

FAQ

30 minutes ... but it feels shorter because your guests will feel like they're part of the wedding, not just watching it.

Yes, I have a powerful, portable system. It does not require a power-point, ugly cables or a generator, therefore I can place it anywhere I want to ensure all your guests will hear the ceremony - e.g. in the middle of a park, on the beach or the best position in the venue. I play music prior to the ceremony through it as your guests arrive and then it is yours to use if you wish to play your music via IPad/IPhone, CD or USB Stick during the ceremony. I use a cordless microphone and there's a second cordless mike for you and/or readers to use.

Yes, I lodge the marital documents to Births, Deaths & Marriages within days of you wedding. (I will have already asked you to supply me with birth certificates, drvers licences or passports).

Mike was a BRILLIANT addition to our wedding day. We're so glad with how he ran our wedding ceremony and reception. We've had incredible feedback from guests about Mike specifically. Mike is professional, yet warm and funny. He kept everything on the night going smoothly and is very experienced in entertaining the crowd. One of the best choices we made about our wedding day. We highly recommend choosing him as your Celebrant and MC. - Cat + Daniel.

July 2022

Mike did a wonderful job as the celebrant for our wedding. We chose him because we thought his sense of humour and fun nature would make for a light-hearted ceremony. He absolutely delivered that. He worked with us in the lead up to our wedding day to ensure the ceremony was exactly what we wanted. Our guests all found his ceremony entertaining. It was a lovely representation of our love story and our connection. He was able to set a relaxed and welcoming tone to the day, which was exactly the vibe we wanted. We would highly recommend his services as a celebrant to any couple planning their special day.. Thank you Mike for making our wedding ceremony one we will remember.

Mike is incredible to work with, of course an absolute hoot, but an excellent celebrant from start to finish. He makes the entire experience a ball for you as a couple and has your guests in hysterics! A pleasure working with him!

March 2024

We are very happy that we chose Mike to be our celebrant. He made the ceremony very funny and fun too. We were both quite nervous on the day and he helped to calm our nerves too. He is 100% the most amazing celebrant! So many of our guests have said it was hands down the best ceremony ever. Mike also helped us with the legal paperwork.

January 2024

We hired Mike as both our celebrant and MC for our wedding in January and we are so happy with our decision! The process was super easy, we met with Mike to plan the day and then were given easy to follow MC and ceremony guides. We received both our run through a within the week of providing these back to Mike and they were amazing! The day of was just perfect and our guests really loved the way Mike conducted the day and entertained our guests! We are looking forward to receiving our video back so we can just relive the moment! Thanks again Mike for a beautiful ceremony and reception!

What time should my ceremony be?

We're making a ceremony local due to a close family member that can't go far. Our reception venue is 1 hr away, We'll need to arrive around 6:30-7pm at reception. We have a wedding photoshoot prior to the reception venue, this will be about 2 hrs.

Mike Larkan - Celebrant & MC

I would suggest putting 2.30 on the invitation or 2.45sharp (there is always bound to be guests arriving late) intending to start your ceremony at 3. This still leaves plenty of time for photos ... the last thing you want to be doing is rushing your photographer. Enjoy your wedding ??.

Advice for having your dog in your ceremony

Would love some advice! We def want to include our dog in our wedding ceremony! We want him as the ring bearer. Are they are any things to avoid or prepare for in advance? Thanks!

Mike Larkan - Celebrant & MC

Yep, it can add that extra 'wow' to your ceremony. I always suggest that the dog be a surprise (hidden) and the best man pretends he has left the rings somewhere & races off to look for them .... returning with the dog with rings on the dogs collar ??

Do celebrants travel and how far?

Hello. We're considering getting married in the country but are wondering, if we find the celebrant we love, if they generally travel to do weddings. How do they price for that?

Mike Larkan - Celebrant & MC

That is something you need to discuss with your celebrant. Some simply don't travel too far, others don't mind the drive. Often if the venue is more than 45 minutes from their office/home they'll add a travel fee perhaps $50 - $150

. I live in Melbourne's SE and charge a fee to marry couples in the Yarra Valley and often the Dandenongs, for example.
