My experience with Tailor On The Road was really good. The best part of their service is that they come to you to measure and fit. Chad made himself available to work within our schedules. They looked stunning on the day. So many compliments on our sandy coloured suits!

should we buy or hire the groom's formal wear and what are pros and cons for each?

Tailor On The Road

I would advise to buy. 100% of engaged couples have agreed  when I advised that 'the wedding dress is only for one day and the suit/formal wear is a lifetime investment. That being said, it is also best to get made-to-measure suits as they are exclusively made for the individual with little or no alterations. Every man needs a suit for that special occasion.

Hiring formal wear rings the 'HYGEINE' alarm bells. As mentioned by BJS these take limited alterations as per the length of sleeves and legs - nothing more. But why hire or get off-the-rack when you can purchase a made-to-measure in the style, colour and fabric of choice?

For the budget conscious, hiring would be the option. Made-to-measure warrants a price tag as the garment is usually hand-crafted with special care. Off-the-rack could be cheaper dependent on your taste (fashion brand). Off-the-rack could even be cheap as hire if you are able to get on 'SALE'.

However, if funds are of no concern, then it is best to get made-to-measure. Tailor On The Road has a great offer - Buy The Groom's Suit and get 20% OFF Groomsmen with a FREE Tailored Shirt. A Tailor will visit your groom and groomsmen at home, office or location of choice.

Thad

What colour suit will go with my blush wedding dress?

Tailor On The Road

Hi Elise,

I would suggest doing an iridescent navy or navy (not just basic navy). You want a navy fabric that when in sunlight it reflects variations of blue.

Tailor On The Road has just the fabric needed and can tailor a suit to the groom and groomsmen for your May wedding. Book a free consultation to view the options I refer to.

If the brides dress is ivory, do the groom and groomsmen need to wear ivory shirts?

Or are white shirts okay?

Tailor On The Road

Hi Deanna,

Here's a little something about 'The White Shirt" - It's a must have... a shirt that can be worn at any event or occasion. The white shirt is essential to any suiting attire and compliments all other colours of suit. The white shirt can be worn with any colour neck/bow tie and shoe.

I do not think Ivory is the way to go since it may not look best against the skin tones. White on the other hand can be worn over any skin tone and be captured in photos.

As a suggestion, it would be best to accessorise the groomsmen to compliment the bridesmaids dress colour. I speak of neck/bow tie, pocket square, cufflinks. Remember to compliment and not clash colour detailing.

What colour suits is the groom and groomsmen wearing?
