I have never understood suit rentals. A bride spends months selecting her ideal dress, has it altered so it fits perfectly then packs it away to keep as a precious memento of the biggest day in her life. She then repeats the same exercise for her bridesmaids forcing them to buy some huge taffeta extravaganza they know they won’t ever be able to wear again.

However, for some totally inexplicable reason it is apparently acceptable for the groom and his groomsmen to pop over to the local suit rental place and pick the first suit they see. A suit that has been worn by I don’t know how many people, for hours on end, during some of the biggest parties of their lives.  Then, after paying a not inconsiderable sum, they have the inconvenience of taking their suits back the day after the wedding.

Why? Unlike the bride who will never wear her dress again, with some careful selection the groom and his groomsmen could wear their suits over and over again. Even if it is a formal wedding, every man should have at least one tuxedo in his wardrobe.
