who pays for the bridesmaid dresses

We probably have a 50/50 ratio of payment. It depends on your circumstances as to who pays for what. My main concern is the discussions you have with your bridesmaids about their financial commitment when they take on such an honorable role in your nuptials! It is always helpful if clear budgets are discussed with your girls and the store in which you select your gowns for. This way there are no surprises and disappointments.

Hi Melissa, typically we have the majority of bridesmaids paying for thier own dresses and shoes with the bride paying for hair and makeup and perhaps a little gift. In the past if the bride chose a particularly expensive dress then the bride would pay some toward the cost.

This is a personal decision that you, as the bride makes. Generally what we are finding is that the bridesmaids are paying for their dresses but on occasion brides will contribute towards them.
