Most brides want to buy something for their bridesmaids to say thanks for the role they have played in the wedding, not just on the day itself but in the months leading up to the big day. Buying bridesmaid jewellery that can be worn to the wedding is a very popular thank you gift.
Here are the answers to five of the common questions brides have about buying Bridesmaid Jewellery:
Although many brides choose to buy jewellery as their bridesmaids’ thank you gifts, your bridesmaids won’t see your gesture as unoriginal. As long as you put some thought into the bridesmaid’s individual style and tastes bridesmaid jewellery can be a very personal gift, and something that can be treasured and worn for a long time, not just on your wedding day.
If you have a large budget for bridesmaid jewellery, a set including a necklace and earrings, or necklace and bracelet would make a lovely gift. If you don’t have a lot to spend, however, you would do better to get a single high quality piece such as a necklace that can stand alone and that will last longer. Trying to buy jewellery sets on a tight budget will mean you end up with poorer quality gifts.
The answer to this question depends on the ages of your bridesmaids and how many you have. If you are having young bridesmaids, buying them all the same jewellery will avoid squabbles so this is probably a good idea.
If your bridesmaids are older the piece of jewellery you give them should be a similar style or material, and should appear to be of roughly equal value, but you should try to tailor your choice to their individual styles and body shapes. If you have a maid of honour you could buy her a more expensive gift as she will have contributed more to the wedding.
The ideal time to present gifts of bridesmaid jewellery would be on the morning of the wedding when you are all together getting ready. However, if you do this you will need to tell your bridesmaids that you will be providing jewellery in advance or they may buy their own. If you want to make your gift a surprise, present it during the final bridesmaid dress fitting so that it can be tried on with their dresses.
If you really don’t want to give your bridesmaids jewellery you could look for a clutch bag or beautiful purse to complement the bridesmaids dress. These could be monogrammed, embroidered or personalised in another way.
For bridesmaids you know very well such as best friends or sisters, look for a small wedding photo album with pictures of the two of you during the years. Leave plenty of space for wedding pictures.
If you aren’t that close to your bridesmaids, for example if you are having relatives of the groom, look for luxurious toiletries or chocolates and have them wrapped in a beautiful box with a ribbon in your wedding accent colour.
