We're starting to think about song choices for our wedding. I'm curious about what songs musicians love to play at weddings (vs the cliched ones they get asked about!). Would love to hear your personal favourites?

Our 5 top songs we LOVE to sing at weddings are:
1. Shania Twain - Still The One
2. Elton John - Your Song
3. Christina Perri - A thousand Years
4. Luke Combs - Beautiful Crazy
5. Brad & Brodie - Let's Get Married
We love singing anything up beat/ feel good, something people know the words to (usually when people are drunk they love to sing back to us and that is the best!)
With Love,
Brad & Brodie
My list of favourites tends to change every season and is usually made up of requested songs from my brides and grooms.
If I had to choose my top 5 requested songs from the last season that I have absolutely enjoyed learning and performing, they would be:
Better together - Us the duo
Bloom - The Paper Kites
Love me like you do - Ellie Goulding
The Luckiest - Ben Folds
Yellow - U2
And if I had to pick my top 5 of regular favourites that are always asked for and I never grow tired of playing, they would be:
Pacelbel's Canon
Can't help falling in love with you - Elvia Presley
Sky full of stars - Coldplay
Love story - Taylor Swift
How long will I love you - Ellie Goulding
One of our singnature covers is 'I Love You, Always Forever', and it always goes down well at weddings.
You can see our cover of it on our page.
It's uplifting, magical, romantic and boppy all at the same time.
A perfect song to play at a special moment, such as the entrance or cake cutting to set the mood for the night.
Thank you for asking such a great question.
We prefer to make our couples and their guests happy at weddings. Having many years of excperience in building atmosphere on dancefloors comes with being able to reasd the crowd and knowing what to play when to play to creat a fun filled dancefloor at your wedding. Therefore, what our favouite songs to play at a wedding is not that important. It's what songs you wish to have played and what songs will get yours guests running to the dancefloor that is important to the success of your wedding.
In addition to this, as you know not all weddings are the same. So if we were to playt what songs we like to play it would not suit every crowd too.
Personally, I love played all the party bangers from all the genres and blend them seamlessly transitioning from one song to another with no breaks live on the night too. The genres we cater for start from 50's Rock N Roll | 60's Pop, Brit Pop, Rock n Roll, Motown, Rock | 70's Disco, Funk, Pop, Rock | 80's Funk, Disco, Hi NRG, Pop, Dance, New Wave, Rock, Glam Rock | RnB Old School, Cheesy, Pop, Dance, Rock, Techno, Trance, Alternative and Grunge | 00's Top 40, RnB, Hip Hop, House, Commercial Dance, Trance, Techno, Rock | 10's Top 40, RnB, Hip Hop, House, Commercial Dance, Trance, Techno, Rock.
Would you like for me to send you a playlist of the Top 200 Songs selected by couples througout 2021? - These are all the party bangers.

We ask our couples to choose their favourite songs for their Ceremony and First dances. We promise to learn these even if we don't have them on our song list. We have had some really beautiful choices.
Some of our favourites from over the years -
I'm With you - Vance Joy (first dance)
Lover - Taylor Swift (first dance / cake cutting)
Can't help falling in love - Elvis / Kina Grannis (ceremony aisle walk) - this one does get asked for often, but is simply just so beautiful.
Someone like you - Van Morrison (first dance)
First Date (acoustic version) - Blink 182 / Taylor Acorn (ceremony exit song)
Daughters - John Mayer (parents dance)
I get to love you - Ruelle (ceremony aisle walk)
La Vie en Rose - Emily Watts (ceremony signing song)
A Thousand Years - Christina Perri (ceremony aisle song) - breathtaking song for the aisle walk.
Ok- Strap yourself in! I'm about to give you the key to creating the best wedding playlist that has served my company for 15 years!
Nostalgia!
The trick is not to play "Old" or "New" songs but songs that create a memory for you. I call them my "OMG I haven't heard this song in AGES" songs and can come from any era and any genre! Now the trick for a DJ is looking at the crowd, their ages, temperment and backgrounds (is this a country wedding or a city wedding, etc) and then knowing which songs will get that reaction.
It is also important to have this reaction all through dinner so by dessert people are litterally itching to get on the dance floor.
I will give you a few of my personal favorites to play during the dinner part which will I know work for 90% of weddings:
Hopefully this will give you an idea of what I'm refering to. General rule of thumb is if you can see yourself singing in the car with your friends to a song chances are everyone will sing it at their tables at the wedding!
Hope that helps :-)

What a fab question! Generally songs that are genuine, from Artists who write their own lyrics and contain solid musicianship or great rifs/baselines. Too many songs these days are created by producers, autogenerated so-to-speak and overly post-produced. That's why musicians often love to play songs that are classics- from before the time that music became a purely commercial and computing enterprise. Surprisingly, the ones you always find your toe taps to, or really touches you, will often be the same for musicians. With the exception of the ones that are fine to death like "Brown Eyed Girl" ??

Personally, we play all sorts of tunes! Normally after the first dance, we start with some upbeat music to get the dancefloor going. These include Gimme Gimme Gimme by ABBA, I Gotta Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas, Pump it Up by Enor and the Rasputin remix by Majestic. Thie mix of old and new allows me to gauge which songs the crowd reacts to the most. Then the rest of the night is a blend of new and old depending on the demographic of the crowd.
Surprisingly, Man! I Feel Like a Woman by Shania Twain seems to be back in fashion and is a very popular dancefloor filler! Another dancefloor guarantee for the younger crowd is Untouched by The Veronicas.
